The Vikings and the Patriots have agreed to a blockbuster trade that will send Pro Bowl wide receiver back to Minnesota for the Vikings' 2011 third-round pick on Wednesday, an NFL source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. When the trade is completed, the Patriots will have two picks in each of the first four rounds of the 2011 draft -- their own picks and a first-round pick from Oakland, a second-round pick from Carolina, the third-round pick from the Vikings and a fourth-rounder from Denver.

FoxSports - The Vikings are close to acquiring Randy Moss via trade, according to sources. The Patriots say the deal is contingent on the Vikings agreeing to a new contract with Moss. Moss began his career with the Vikings before eventually being traded to Oakland. The Vikings have been searching for a star-caliber receiver and were unable to pick up Vincent Jackson.

Wow that would be a surprising move from the 3-1 Pats. Knowing this is Moss' last year you think they would make one last push for a Super Bowl, but I guess they want to get something in return and hope for success down the road. Take away Randy Moss from this team and the offense gets significantly worse.

  1. Brandon Tate would be a great pickup if this goes down. And Wes Welker owners would be ecstatic.

  2. I do believe Tate would see an increased workload as well as Julian Edelman, but it hurts the value of Wes Welker. The Pats lose their deep threat and now defenses can zone in on taking away the short game from Welker as he's the main target now.
