Monday News

  • Steven Jackson left the game on Sunday with a groin injury. This is important for Jackson owners and they should rush to pick up Kenneth Darby just in case!  Darby rushed 14 times for 49 yards and a score while Keith Toston also got 11 carries but only picked up 22 yards
Jackson was down for several minutes while the play was being reviewed. He received treatment on the sideline before walking to the locker room.
  • Austin Collie now leads the league in receiving yards(359) receptions(27) and TDs(4)
  • Darren McFadden has rushed for 345 yards and finally crossed the goal line this week
  • Michael Vick is back and doesnt look like he or the Eagles offense will be slowing down anytime soon
  • Kyle Orton has thrown for 300+ yards in back to back games for the first time in his career
  • Leon "Seattle" Washington returned two kickoffs for TDs against the Chargers.  The Seahawks should probably give him some reps with the offense(Forsett rushed for 63 yards on 17 carries)
  • After watching Monday Night Football, it is pretty clear that Jay Cutler and Aaron Rodgers throw the 2 hardest balls in the league

UPDATE:Pickups for Week 3

Are you in need of some assistance on who to pickup to help bolster your roster? Here are some players who we think can make a positive impact on your fantasy squad, who are still available in most leagues.

Must Haves

No major injuries this week so no must have players

Solid Pickups

LaDainian Tomlinson(RB) - Looked very quick against the Pats in week 2 and created energy for the Jets and the fans when he took the ball. Look for the Jets to get him involved against the Dolphins in week 3
15 Rushes for 70 Yards 1 TD 3 Catches

Moreno Out Against Colts

Denver Broncos running back Knoshown Moreno will not play Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.
Broncos coach Josh McDaniels said Friday that Moreno will be out after sustaining "a little something" in practice that "he won't be able to play through." McDaniels didn't elaborate but the official injury report said Moreno had injured a hamstring.
If you can grab Correll Buckhalter or Laurence Maroney you should do so if you have Moreno or need a RB for this week.  Im assuming Buckhalter will be the primary back with Maroney serving as the backup but will get in the mix, as whoever has the hot hand should get the carries.

KeithyP's Favs of the week
Fav QB Matchup - Michael Vick @ Lions - 103 Rush yards, 16 for 24 Passing and a TD.  Kevin Kolb failed his concussion test, Vick will start.
Vick was extremely impressive in his first start in over 2 years.  He didn't do much with his feet, as he only rushed 4 times for 40 yards but he was 21/34 passing for 284 yards and 2 TDs.  He connected with Desean Jackson for several deep bombs in this game.

Pickups of the Week

Are you in need of some assistance on who to pickup to help bolster your roster?  Here are some players who we think can make a positive impact on your fantasy squad, who are still available in most leagues.

Must Haves
Brandon Jackson (RB) - With Ryan Grant done for the season in Green Bay, Jackson is now the starter in a high powered offense.  Better put in your waiver claim now and hope for the best as he could be a savior for your fantasy team as he takes the field with Aaron Rodgers.
Jackson wasn't very impressive in this one racking up 39 total yards on 12 touches, but he did find the endzone which is always nice.  Look for him to be more productive in the upcoming weeks.

Week 1 Surprises

QB
Matt Schaub - Only attempted 17 passes and complete 9 for a dismal 107 yards.  Not sure if the game plan was to come in an run the ball but that is exactly what the Texans did in their first win over the Colts.

RB
Arian Foster - 33 carries, 231 yards, 3 TDs.  Did anyone have him on their bench?  This means one of two things: Foster is that good, or the Colts have to worry about their poor run defense.  Which one is it?

Jerome Harrison - Someone please explain to me why Jerome Harrison only touched the ball 10 times!  9 rushes and one reception is not enough for Harrison.  This guys is explosive and can rack up the yards in bunches.  Does anyone have an explanation??

WR
Mark Clayton - In his first game as a Ram, Clayton grabbed 10 catches for 119 yards.  Surprising yes, not a fantasy player though.  If you have him, look to trade him ASAP while his value is as high as it will ever b

Austin Collie - 10 catches for 131 yards and a score, Peyton Manning throws 57 times.  Expected to see Wayne(7) and Garcon(4) more

Steve Breaston - 7 for 132, Derek Anderson could not get the ball to Fitzgerald(15 Targets, 3 Catches 1 TD)

Eddie Royal/Brandon Lloyd - Combined for 13 catches and 205 yards, the Broncos threw for 295 yards and only ran for 89.  Look for next week to be a bit more balanced

TE
Any suprises here?

K
Garrett Hartley - Missed from 30-39 and 40-49
Stephen Gostkowski - Missed from 40-49 and 50+

DEF/ST
Cincinnati Bengals - Allowed 38 points, 376 total yards, 0 Sacks, 0 Int

Seattle Seahawks - Allowed 2 Field Goals, and 263 yards of offense.  2 Interceptions, one was a pick six, and 2 sacks, they stunned the 49ers

What Darrelle Revis Means To Your Fantasy Team

UPDATE:
Jets and Revis finally agree to deal, 4yrs/$42 mil w/ $32mil guaranteed
JETS BLOG

2010: $7.5 million in base salary. No signing bonus.
2011: $18 million option bonus (first day of league year), $7.0 million base.
2012: $7.5 million base.
2013: $6.0 million base.

Accuscore simulated the season 10,000 times with and without Revis.
With Revis the Jets made the Playoffs 51.5% of the time
Without Revis the Jets made the Playoff's 37.8% of the time
STORY

Hopefully you read this in time before your draft and if you already drafted the Jets defense, here's something to think about...What made the Jets defense so valuable last season was that they only allowed 20+ points in 6 games last season.  Darrelle Revis was a huge reason for this.  Against Andre Johnson, Randy Moss twice, Marques Colston, Terell Owens twice, Mike Sims-Walker, Steve Smith, Chad Ochocinco, and Roddy White, Revis gave up a combined 32-290-2.

UDPATE: TJ Houshmandzadeh on the Trading Block

Baltimore has signed TJ and he is now a Raven.  This is great news for Houshmandzadeh owners as he now is on possible the best team in football.  No team matches up both offensively and defensively like Balitmore does.  Expect a big year for TJ as he is one of the most consistent receivers in the NFL, with 6 straight years of at least 900 yards receiving.YAHOO

The Seahawks are looking to trade their $7M WR, but so far no offers.  If this guy's on your team, keep an eye on this story.

Which teams could use/afford TJ Houshmandzadeh?

Chargers? Cardinals? Bears? Vikings? Titans? Jaguars? 49ers? Redskins? Broncos? Falcons? Panthers?
