Philadelphia Phillies left field Raul Ibanez is working his way into the history books, and not in a good way. Raul is hitless in his last 34 at-bats! That's a stretch of 10 games he's now gone without a hit, which includes 8 starts and 2 pinch hit appearances. His last hit came on April 18th against the Brewers.
In 91 at-bats this year, Ibanez has 14 hits, 10 runs scored, 2 doubles, 1 home run, 10 rbi, 27 strike outs to go along with his .154 average, and .238 on base percentage. Even with his lack of production the last half of April the Phillies are still 8-4 during that stretch.
The 38 year old is nearing the record books, creeping up on Bill Bergen's record of 46 hitless at-bats back in 1909 with the Brooklyn Dodgers.
If you still have this guy on your team..or worse your starting lineup, take him out immediately and look for a better option because it might not be long before Ibanez is put on the bench and John Mayberry Jr. takes over in left field for good.
According to CBS The Delaware News Journal reports that Phillies OF Raul Ibanez isn't helping himself at the plate during his early slump. Ibanez is swinging at a lot more pitches outside of the strike zone (29.4 percent) than his career average (21.3 percent) and making a lot less contact on those pitches (54.2 percent) than his career average (63.7 percent).
