Fantasy Football Pickups for Week 8

With 6 teams on a bye week, are you in need of some assistance on who to pickup to help bolster your roster? Here are some players who we think can make a positive impact on your fantasy squad, who are still available in most leagues.

Must Haves
Ryan Torain/Roy Helu RB – Tim Hightower is done for the season.  If one is gone grab the other.  With Mike Shannahan coaching down in DC, you never know which RB he will like on any given Sunday.

Solid Pickups
Alfonso Smith RB - With Beanie Wells set to miss 1-2 weeks, Alfonso Smith will look to prove himself in Arizona.  He had a nice preseason and will now get a chance to play in meaningful games.  He is currently averaging 3.6 yards a carry on just 25 rushing attempts.  You can expect games very similar to his season #s.
If not this week against Baltimore, definitely the following week against the Rams.

Good For A Week
Bernard Scott RB – With Cedric Benson serving his suspension this week, Bernard Scott should see the bulk of the work in Cincy.  Don’t expect much after this.

Christian Ponder QB – With his first start out of the way, Ponder can now just play football.  He did a good job against the Packers last week and a matchup against the Panthers could provide some fantasy value as a fill in.

Knowshon Moreno RB – Willis McGahee is out next week after having surgery on his hand.   Moreno should get the majority of the snaps, with Lance Ball taking a few as well.

Players to Watch
Andrew Luck QB – How bad do the Dolphins want him?  The Giants will find out on Sunday
