NBA Playoffs - NBA 2k12 Edition (Bulls/76ers)

Bulls @ 76ers Game 6
76ers
 85 Bulls 69

Facing elimination on the road in the playoffs is tough enough, but its extremely difficult when your missing the leagues reigning MVP and your starting center.  With Rose and Noah out, the Bulls will need just about everyone to step up and have a big game if they want to go back home for a game 7 and keep their season alive.

For Chicago, their season will come to an end tonight.  They were not able to get anything going offensively as the Philadelphia defense was great.  The 76ers jumped out to a early 7 point lead as they led after the first quarter 23-16.  They increased their lead to 12 as they went into halftime up 42-30.  Chicago cut the lead to 10 going into the fourth 58-48 but Philadelphia ran away with the game in the fourth as they go on to win 85-69 and advance to the second round of the NBA playoffs and the Bulls season ends with disappointment as injuries depleted their roster and championship hopes.

Lou Williams was great off the bench leading the scoring with 28 points (8-17, 3-7 3pt, 9-13 ft) and he pulled down 6 rebounds.  Evan Turner had a double double with 13 points (5-16, 3-4 ft) and 10 rebounds. Jrue Holiday had 13 points (4-8, 1-1 3pt, 4-6 ft) 2 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals.  Andre Iguodala had a double double with 10 points (4-7, 1-2 3pt, 1-4 ft), 12 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and a block.  Elton Brand had 8 points (3-6, 2-2 ft), 11 rebounds, 2 steals and 3 blocks.  As a team Philly shot 39% from the field (29-75, 5-12 3pt) and were 22-35 from the foul line.  They pulled down 18 offensive rebounds which led to a lot of 2nd chance points.

Richard Hamilton's 12 points (6-16, 0-3 3pt) led the Bulls, as nobody could get into a rhythm offensively.  Carlos Boozer finished with a double double scoring 11 points (4-13, 3-7 ft), pulling down 11 rebounds, 4 assists, a block and a steal.  Taj Gibson off the bench had 10 points (5-9) with 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 blocks and 2 steals.  CJ Watson scored 10 points (4-8, 2-4 ft).  Omir Asik had 7 points, 4 rebounds and 2 blocks.  Luol Deng's struggles continued as he scored 7 points on 3-10 shooting, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals.

The 76ers defeat the Bulls 4-2 in the series

76ers @ Bulls Game 5
76ers
97 Bulls 93

Just like in game 4, the first half showed a lot of offense and not a whole lot of defense.  The Bulls took a 53-48 lead despite playing without Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah .  The 76ers showed up defensively in the second half and limited the bulls to just 40 points and pulled out a 97-93 victory to go up 3-2 in the series.

Evan Turner led all scorers with 24 points (9-13, 6-9 ft) and had 5 rebounds.  Off the bench Lou Williams had 16 points (5-8, 1-1 3pt, 5-5 ft).  The 76ers three big men all had double doubles.  Elton Brand had 11 (2-13, 7-8 ft) and 11, Andre Iguodala had 11 (3-11, 0-2 3pt, 5-6 ft) and 10 and Spencer Hawes had 10 (5-8) and 10.  Jrue Holliday had 8 points (2-7, 1-1 3pt, 3-4 ft), 4 boards and 9 assists.  As a team Philadelphia shot 45% from the field (31-69, 2-4 3pt) and were 33-40 from the foul line.  The 76ers had 21 turnovers but still managed to win the game.

Luol Deng led the Bulls with 21 points (5-12, 2-4 3pt, 9-11 ft), 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks.  Richard Hamilton had 19 points (8-17, 1-3 3pt, 2-2 ft), 2 boards and 5 assists.  Kyle Korver off the bench had 16 points and knocked down 4 three pointers.  CJ Watson and John Lucas combined for 21 points (7-19, 3-9 3pt, 4-5 ft), 4 boards, 4 assists and 4 steals.  Taj Gibson had 7 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks.  Omir Asik had 5 points, 6 boards and 2 blocks.  Carlos Boozer was limited with foul trouble and finished with 4 points and 3 rebounds.  As a team the Bulls 38% from the field (30-78, 10-24) and were 23-32 from the foul line.

Game 6 is Thursday in Philadelphia

Bulls @ 76ers Game 4
76ers 97 Bulls 87

After losing Derrick Rose late in game 1, Chicago got more bad news as they lost their center Joakim Noah for game 4 after badly twisting his ankle.  That being said, more minutes and pressure will be given to guys like Taj Gibson and Omer Asik to step up in Noah’s absence.

The first half showed a lot of offensive which has definitely been lacking for much of this series.  Philadelphia led at half 56-47.  Both teams struggled in the third as Chicago scored 13 points and Philadelphia only scored 11.  But the 76ers were able to pull away in the fourth for a 97-87 victory to even the series up at 2 games apiece.

Andre Iguodala led all scorers with 28 points (11-20, 1-3 3pt, 5-7 ft) along with his 7 boards and 3 steals.  Lou Williams off the bench scored 17 points (6-15, 1-3 3pt, 4-4) with 5 boards and 5 assists.  Jrue Holiday finished with a double double as he had 13 points (3-10, 0-2 3pt, 7-8 ft), 10 assists, 5 boards and 3 steals.  Elton Brand was very efficient going 5-6 from the field for 12 points and 7 boards.  Spencer Hawes had a game high 10 boards to go along with his 6 points and 2 blocks.  As a team the 76ers dominated the boards 54-37, including 18 offensive boards, really taking advantage of the absence of Noah in the middle.  Philadelphia shot 44% from the field (35-80, 2-13 3pt) and went 25-30 from the foul line.

Carlos Boozer had 18 points (8-19, 2-3 ft) to lead the scoring for Chicago but only finished with 4 boards.  John Lucas off the bench scored 17 points (2-5, 1-2 3pt, 12-14 ft) as he was very aggressive driving to the basket all night.  Richard Hamilton had 15 points, 4 boards and 4 assists.  Luol Deng struggled shooting going 3-10 from the field for 11 points and 6 boards.  Omer Asik got the start in this one and finished with 5 points, 5 boards and a block.  Chicago shot 36% from the field (23-64, 3-9 3pt) and 38-50 from the foul line.

Game 5 is Tuesday in Chicago

Bulls @ 76ers Game 3
76ers 93 Bulls 85

Despite losing Derrick Rose late in game 1, the Bulls still found a way to win game 2.  However in game 3 the Bulls really struggled trying to find any type of rhythm on offense, as they looked flat all game.  As nobody was able to get it going for Chicago, the 76ers were able to take game three 93-85, and avoid going down 3-0.
Even though the Bulls offense wasn’t all that great, they only trailed 42-41 at half.  The 76ers used a 30 point third to jump out to a 72-65 lead heading into the 4th where they held on and eventually won the game 93-85.

The 76ers were led by Evan Turners 19 points (6-13, 1-3 3pt, 6-8 ft), 6 boards, 3 assists and a block.  Andre Iguodala played a great defensive game as he finished with 18 points (5-13, 2-5 3pt, 6-10 ft), 7 boards, 2 assists, 4 steals and a block.  Elton Brand had a solid game scoring 15 points (6-12, 3-5 ft), 8 boards and a block.  Off the bench Lou Williams and Thaddeus Young combined for 25 points.  Jrue Holiday led the team with 7 assists to go along with his 6 points and 4 boards. Philadelphia shot 43% (30-69, 5-14 3pt) and 28-14 from the foul line, something they’ll need to improve.  They did have 11 offensive boards, with Brand having 5 of those.
It wasn’t pretty for Chicago as they shot 40% from the field (28-70, 5-18 3pt) and 24-38 from the foul line.  Jon Lucas and Kyle Korver were the bright spots off the bench for the Bulls as Lucas had 14 points (2-7, 2-5 3pt, 8-10 ft), 3 boards and an assist while Korver had 13 points (3-7, 2-6, 5-7 ft), 5 boards and 2 assists.  Noah had the most solid game of any starter with 13 points (5-7, 3-4 ft), 6 boards and a block.  With Rose out CJ Watson got the start and had 5 turnovers in 27 minutes along with his 11 points, 2 boards, 2 assists and 2 steals.  Carlos Boozer was in foul trouble most of this game only playing 21 minutes and had 9 points and 6 boards.  It was a game to forget for Luol Deng and Richard Hamilton.  Deng had 7 points, 11 boards, 6 assists, a steal and 2 blocks but he was 2-12 from the field, 0-3 from downtown.  For Hamilton he scored 6 points and had 4 assists but was 3-10 from the field.

Game 4 is Sunday in Philadelphia

76ers @ Bulls Game 2
Bulls 92 76ers 77

Derrick Rose missed 27 games during the regular season and the Bulls were 19-8 in those games. Well the Bulls are going to have to win without him some more if they want to win a championship as Rose will be out up to 9 months with a torn ACL.

The Bulls did what they do best and thats play defense. Philadelphia was held to 18 points or less in 3 of the four quarters as this one was a double digit game almost the entire way, and the Bulls take game two 92-77, taking a 2-0 lead to Philly.

Four Bulls were in double figures as Carlos Boozer led the team with 18 points (5-8, 8-9 ft) and 8 boards, Rip Hamilton scored 17 points (8-13, 1-2 3pt), Luol Deng recorded a double double with 16 (6-16, 1-3 3pt, 3-4 ft) and 15 boards and Joakim Noah also had a double double with 13 (5-5, 3-5 ft) and 11. Taj Gibson had a solid game with 8 points and 7 boards off the bench. CJ Watson got the start in Rose's absence as he and backup John Lucas combine for 9 points and 11 assists, and they both struggled from the field going 2-11 and 1-6 from downtown. The Bulls dominated the glass 54-42.

Well it wasn't pretty watching Philly on offense, as they go 28-84 (33%) from the field. They could not buy a bucket in the first half, only putting up 32 points. The only bright spot was Lou Williams as he scored 24 points (9-17, 3-6 3pt, 3-5 ft) and had 4 boards and 4 assists. Evan Turner and Thaddeus Young each had 13 points off the bench. Jrue Holiday scored 8 points to go along with 6 boards, 4 assists and 3 steals. Andre Iguodala was awful scoring 7 points on 2-14 shooting, missing all 5 3 point attempts. However he did grab 10 boards and have 4 assists.

Game 3 is Friday Night in Philadelphia

76ers @ Bulls Game 1
Bulls 103 76ers 91

No surprise here as the Bulls win comfortably in game 1 in front of the hometown fans.  The first half was very competitive as they were tied at 29 through 1, and the Bulls took a 50-49 lead into halftime.  The Bulls came out and played great defense in the third as they outscored the 76ers 30-18 to take a 13 point lead heading into the fourth.  Facing a double digit deficit going into the final quarter the 76ers never really got back into this one as the Bulls hold on for a 103-91 victory.

For the Bulls it was Derrick Rose leading the way as he looked very healthy and comfortable on the court as he played 38 minutes, scoring 26 points (12-23, 0-2 3pt, 2-5 ft), 9 assists and 4 boards.  Only two other Bulls scored in double figures as Deng dropped in 19 (8-11, 3-4 3pt) along with his 7 boards and 5 assists and Boozer scored 16 (7-12) and led the Bulls with 9 boards.  It was nice to see the Bulls still playing well even with Noah limited to 20 minutes due to foul trouble and he only contributed 8 points and 2 boards. As a team the Bulls were 41-81 from the field, including 7-13 from downtown (Deng 3, Korver 2, Watson 2).  Something they need to improve on is their free throw shooting as they were 14-22.

For the 76ers it was Andre Iguodala as the lone bright spot as he scored 24 points (7-17, 2-3 3pt, 8-9 ft), 8 boards, 2 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks.  Philly spread the ball around as 5 others scored in double figures (L. Williams 13, Meeks 12, Holiday 12, Turner 10, Young 10). Elton Brand had a game high 10 rebounds but only contributed 6 points. As a team the 76ers shot 33-81 from the field, 7-19 from downtown (Iguodala 2, Williams 2, Holiday 2, Meeks 1), and were 18-20 from the charity stripe.  If the 76ers want to compete with the Bulls they'll need to be more careful with the ball as  they committed 20 turnovers in game 1.  However they did out rebound the Bulls 53-37 with 15 offensive boards.

Game 2 is Tuesday Night in Chicago
