NBA Playoffs - NBA 2k12 Edition (Heat/Knicks)

Heat @ Knicks Game 4
Heat
106 Knicks 84

No team has ever come back from 3-0 in the history of the NBA playoffs and we don’t expect the first time to happen with the Knicks upsetting the Heat, arguably the most dominant team in the NBA.  Down 3-0 and their season hanging on by a thread, the Knicks did not feel the need to bring back Amare Stoudemire or Jeremy Lin for game 4.

Despite facing elimination the Knicks kept this one close throughout the first half, leading 21-20 at the end of the first and trailed 54-49 at half.  Miami wasted no time taking a big lead as they outscore the Knicks 26-15 in the third and took a 80-64 lead to the fourth, where they added to it before beating the Knicks 106-84 and completing the sweep, moving on to the second round of the NBA playoffs.

Even though the Heat won this game by 22 points, Lebron James was a non-factor.  Due to his struggles and the Heat’s big lead, Lebron played just 25 minutes going 1-12 from the field, scoring 6 points, grabbing 6 rebounds and collecting 5 steals.  Dwayne Wade led the Heat with 33 points (11-21, 11-12 ft), 8 boards, 2 assists and 2 blocks.  Chris Bosh finished with a double double scoring 16 points (4-7, 8-8 ft), 12 boards and 3 blocks.  Shane Battier had increased minutes as he scored 12 points (4-12, 2-6 3pt, 2-3 ft).  Mike Miller and Mario Chalmers each finished with 10 points.  The Heat shot 41% from the field (30-74, 6-16 3pt) and were 40-48 from the foul line.

Carmelo Anthony was really the only weapon on offense as he led the Knicks with 31 points and 15 boards.  He was 11-28 from the field including 1-3 from downtown and he also went 8-9 from the foul line.  Steve Novak was the only other Knick to score in double figures as he had 14 points (5-6, 4-5 3pt).  JR Smith and Baron Davis really struggled in this one as they both finished with 9 points and went a combined 4-22 from the field and 3-13 from downtown.  Tyson Chandler played only 14 minutes in this one before fouling out.  It was just an ugly game from the Knicks as they put an end to another disappointing season.  New York shot 33% from the field (25-76, 8-23 3pt) and were 26-33 from the foul line.

After failing to win the NBA championship last season against the veteran Dallas Mavericks, the Heat are on a mission this year and they set the tone with this first round sweep against the Knicks.  Lebron James only averaged 16.8 points, 8.2 boards, 3.3 assists, 3.5 steals and 1.8 blocks but the Heat still dominated the series.  Wade averaged 29.5 points, 5.8 boards, 3.3 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocks.

Carmelo Anthony averaged 35 points and 11 boards, but only shot 39% from the field.

The Heat beat the Knicks 4-0 in the series

Heat @ Knicks Game 3
Heat 93 Knicks 86

Already down 2-0, the Knicks will have to be without their best on ball defender in rookie Iman Shumpert, and now their starting power forward and explsoive big man Amare Stoudemire after badly cutting his hand in a locker room incident following a game 2 loss. However Carmelo played his best ball of the year filling in for Amare at the power forward position, but with Amare out it means increased playing times for everyone else and they'll have to step up in his absence.

It didnt look good for the Knicks 3/4 of the way through as they trailed 30-22 at the end of 1, 56-43 at half and 74-56 at the end of 3. But it was Carmelo Anthony carrying the Knicks on his back as he got the team as close to 2 points with just over 2 minutes left but Dwyane Wade nailed 6 ft's in the final minute to seal the deal and give the Heat a 93-86 win a 3-0 lead in the series

Wade led the Heat offensively with 28 points (7-16, 1-1 3pt) including 13-14 from the foul line, as I said he hit 6 straight down the strech. He also had 4 boards, 4 assists and was a beast on defense with 6 steals and 2 blocks. Lebron didn't shoot well but finished with 17 points (5-15, 3-6 3pt, 4-7 ft) 6 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. Mario Chalmers hit 3 three pointers as he knocked in 15 points. Mike Miller had 10 points (3-3, 1-1 3 pt, 3-3 ft), 6 boards and 4 assits. Chris Bosh who was in foul trouble finished with 7 points and 7 boards. The Heat shot 42% (28-67, 9-20 3pt) and were 28-37 from the foul line.
Carmelo Anthony did everything he could have to help the Knicks as he had 37 points (13-34, 1-2 3pt, 10-13 ft) 14 boards, 3 assists and 4 steals in 43 minutes. Granted he took nearly 50% of the teams shots, he didn't get much help from the rest of his teammates. Only JR Smith (13 points) and Landry Field (10 points, 6 boards) scored in double figures. Defensive Player of the Year Tyson Chandler only scored 4 points but had 10 boards (5 offensive) and 2 blocks. Baron Davis had 6 points, 6 boards and 6 assists. With only 13 points in the third quarter the Knicks have to think their 19 turnovers for the game really cost them a game here tonight. They shot 40% (28-70, 5-13 3pt) and 25-33 from the line.

Game 4 is Sunday in New York

Knicks @ Heat Game 2
Heat 107 Knicks 83

With the loss of Shumpert, the Knicks will look for JR Smith and Landry Fields to step up their game and the whole team will need to pick up the slack on the defensive end.  Going down 2-0 in a series against a Heat will not be an easy hole to climb out of, so they'll look to take game 2 before heading to the Garden for game 3.

Unfortunately for the Knicks it was the same ol' story.   They were dominated in every aspect of the game, as the Heat roll to a 107-83 victory and take a 2-0 lead. The Heat came out strong right out of the gates and took a commanding 46-32 halftime lead.  Knicks looked uninterested coming out of the locker room being outscored 33-21 in the third and trailed 79-53 going into the 4th and held on for a 24 point win.

Lebron and Wade dominated from the start as D-Wade scored a game high 27 points (10-20, 2-3 3pt, 5-7 ft), 7 boards, 4 assists, 3 steals and a block.  Lebron was just as good scoring 25 (8-16, 1-2 3pt, 8-13 ft), 10 boards, 6 assists and 2 blocks.  With Bosh pretty quiet all night (8 points, 5 boards), Shane Battier really provided a spark off the bench as he was lights out, scoring 25 points going 8-10 from the field including 5 3's.  Mario Chalmers scored 10 and was the only other Heat in double figures.  As a team the Heat were 33-70 from the field, 8-14 from downtown and made 33 free throws.  They dominated the glass as well racking up 14 offensive boards.

The loss of Shumpert really hurt the Knicks, as they had no answer for D-Wade and really nobody stepped up for them defensively or offensively.  Carmelo led the Knicks with his 24 points (9-21, 1-3 3pt, 5-8 ft).  Amare  had 17 points going 8-12 from the field but only 4 boards in 34 minutes is a concern.  Tyson Chandler got going offensively as he had 15 points to go along with 10 boards.  JR Smith scored 6 points on 3-8 shooting, Novak scored 5 points on 2-6 shooting and 1-5 from downtown.  Fields also struggled from the field going 2-7 but had 8 rebounds.  Baron Davis had 4 points and 5 assists and they're going to need to get these role players going and help out the big 3 if they want any chance in this series.  Another 19 turnovers (Smith 5, Melo 4, Davis 4, Stat 3) in this game for the Knicks as not having a true point guard is really hurting them.

Game 3 is Thursday Night in New York

Knicks @ Heat Game 1
Heat 100 Knicks 85

Everyone believes the Heat are on a mission this year, and they proved it here in game 1.  In what is probably the most hyped round 1 series in NBA history the Heat turned on the jets in the second half as they only led 50-48 at halftime.  The game was won in the third quarter as the Heat outscored the Knicks 31-20 and won the game 100-85.  Miami put the pressure on the Knicks and played excellent defense as the Knicks only scored 55 points after the first quarter.

Miami's big three came to play in game 1 as they all filled the stat sheet. Wade scored a game high 30 points (10-16, 10-14 ft) to go along with 4 boards, 3 assists, a steal and a block. Lebron scored 19 (6-11, 0-2 3pt, 7-12 ft), 11 boards, 3 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks. Bosh had 19 points on 6-9 shooting and going 7-8 from the free throw line along with 7 boards and 3 blocks.  Miami used its speed and strength in this one as they drove the lane quite a bit, going 33-47 from the line, and by doing so did not settle for the deep ball as they were 3-11 from downtown.  No other Heat was in double figures but Chalmers did lead the team with 7 assists.  Miami shot over 50% for the game as they went 32-62 from the field.

Unlike Miami, the Knicks looked to to get back in the game with the 3 ball as they went 7-20, and only got to the line 24 times. Carmelo Anthony led the Knicks with 19 points, 6 boards, and 5 assists but was only 6-16 from the field.  Amare Stoudemire really struggled in this one as he scored 13 points on 5-21 shooting but did have a team high 9 rebounds. Iman Shumpert was a spark off the bench as he had 16 points (7-10) with 3 boards and 3 assists. The two X-factors the Knicks look for off the bench for scoring really struggled.  Novak scored 11 but was 3-9 from downtown and JR Smith scored 6 points and was held in check only getting off 3 shots.  The Knicks are going to have to shoot better than 30-80 if they want to win this series.

Game 2 is Monday Night in Miami
