Will Middlebrooks (57% owned Yahoo), the kid who forced the Sox to trade Youkilis, has been unbelievable in the first half. In limited ABs, he managed to hit 11 doubles and 10 HRs while driving in 37 and scoring 25 runs himself. He sat the last 7 games of the first half but it was to prevent him from missing 15 days on the DL. He is set to return after the break and should be on your roster!
Cody Ross (42%) had a great 12 game stretch in June after returning from the DL. But July wasn't as friendly with just 3 hits in 7 games. Ross still has a ton of value until Crawford AND Ellsbury return which could be never at this rate. 14 Doubles, 13 Home Runs, 40 RBI, and 37 runs scored would look nice on your roster.
Jarrod Saltalamacchia (60%), who we picked at the beginning of the season to breakout, has CERTAINLY been a valuable catcher this season. No catcher has hit more homers (17) and even with a .235 BA, he has proven to be a top 10 fantasy catcher. If Salty keeps up the pace he should finish with over 25 HRS, and 80 RBI, which is impressive for a Catcher. Just make sure that Ks don't affect your league to much as his 72 stirke outs (just 16 walks) sits just behind Napoli (86), Arencibia (76) and tied with Montero (ARI).
Pedro Ciriaco (0%) is only available as a UTIL in Yahoo leagues, but he proved to be a valuable fantasy option this weekend against the New York Yankees. He tallied 7 hits over 2 days (3 games) hit 2 doubles and drove in 4 during the second game of Saturday nights double header at Fenway. He also stole two bags this weekend. He is no kid at 27 years old but he is a career .385 hitter in 52 ABs over parts of 3 seasons. With Pedroia out for the next 3 weeks or so, Ciriaco should get plenty of ABs.
Pitchers:On a staff with Josh Beckett (80%) and Jon Lester (94%), Felix Doubront (39%) leads the team in wins (9), ERA (4.41) and Ks (97). The starting pitching has been so bad and our suggestion to you is trade Lester and Beckett if there is a Red Sox fan in your league or a player who loves "Names" on their roster.
The saves have been dominated by Alfredo Aceves (74%) who has lowered his ERA from 4.81 to 4.33 in his last 10 appearances.
