The Mets offensive production has been somewhat surprising this season. They are tied for 7th (Yankees) in runs scored with 384 yet only 5 teams have hit less home runs. They have been patient at the plate and have capitalized on 2-out hits. Ruben Tejada (10% owned Yahoo) has been the spark for the offense. He has only played in 38 games but he is now hitting .329 with 24 runs scored and 13 2Bs.
Daniel Murphy (52%) has been up and down but he is currently up and has 16 hits and 15 RBI in his last 9 games. Only Robinson Cano and Neil Walker have been hotter the past 2 weeks. The Mets offense is scoring runs, just don't look for the long ball from the club.
Lucas Duda (57%), Ike Davis (49%) and David Wright (98%) each have 11 home runs yet Scott Hairston (3%) leads the team with 12! Duda has been struggling as of late and hasn't hit a HR since June 19 but it is safe to think that he will hit .265 with 20-25 HRs this season driving in over 80 runs. He is a player to keep on your bench and slot start against righties.
Ike got off to a horrid start but has turned things around as of late. He hit 6 HRs in June and cut down on his striekouts while staying patient and drawing more walks. Much like Duda you can expect Davis to finish with 20-25 HRs and over 80 RBI. Another safe bet to hold a bench spot and just wait until things start to click.
If you have been paying attention this season, you would know just how good R.A. Dickey (93%) has been. He has been SO good, that fantasy owners prefer him over Johan Santana (88%). Outside of them, Jon Niese (54%) and Dillon Gee (20%) have provided fantasy owners value as stream pitchers. Each pitcher has made 16 starts and both have 11 quality starts. They both have K/9 just over 8 and WHIP between 1.20-1.30. There only downsides have been the long ball (26 combined). Both pitchers are solid options if you need to stream.
The bullpen however has been a complete nightmare and all pitchers should be avoided except Bobby Parnell (30%). He has a 8.74 K/9 to go along with his 2.91 ERA (1.21 WHIP) and will be closing games for the Mets until Frank Francisco (68%) returns.
