Glen "Big Baby" Davis - Shoulder Sprain

UPDATE: Great news for the Magic Organization, Fans, and fantasy owners! But he will miss a handful of games. Vucevic is still a must add!
Orlando Magic general manager Rob Hennigan said in a statement today that Glen Davis has been diagnosed with a left-shoulder sprain and that an MRI exam revealed “no significant structural damage.” “He will be treated non-operatively,” Hennigan said in the statement. “Treatment will include rest and subsequent strengthening of the muscles around his shoulder. His return will depend on progress made during his rehabilitation.”
Big Baby Glen Davis plays with his heart on his sleeve and gives 110% each night. That effort and reckless abandon leads to a lot of trips to the floor be it for loose balls or taking a charge. But last night, Davis found a way to injure himself while going up for what looked like an easy layup (1:50 mark). The fear is that it might be a rotator cuff injury and that Davis could miss significant time. If that is the case, Big Baby owners need to make a move looking to replace 16 points and 8 rebounds per night. Where should you begin? Nikola Vucevic (65% owned Yahoo) - The 2nd year player out of USC has been playing way above expectations. Acquired in the Dwight Howard deal from Philly, Vucevic is averaging just under 11 points and 12 rebounds per game in December. With Big Baby out of the way, both totals should increase making Vucevic a must own.

Andrew Nicholson (3%) - The St. Bonaventure star is one guy who is going to be seeing a huge uptick in minutes with Davis out. He has yet to score 20 points in a game this year, but he does have 12 double digit scoring nights including 4 of his first 5 NBA games. In 16 minutes per game during the month of December, Nicholson provides the Magic with 8 points and 4.6 rebounds off the bench.

Maybe this even opens the door up a bit for rookie Kyle O'Quinn who looked like an NBA ready player in this years March Madness tournament for Norfolk State.

Finding a solid replacement for Davis outside of the Magic roster might be an easier move to make.

Jason Thompson (53%) - The kid from Rider is having his best month of the season dropping 12 points per game while snatching 10 boards per night as well while seeing 30 minutes per game.

Carl Landry (51%) - Landry's minutes have been cut down to about 24 per game in December but he has scored 16+ points 4 times and has 5+ rebounds in a game 8 times.

Ed Davis (29%) - Davis has started the last 5 games for the Raptors and as long as Andre Bargnani
is injured, Davis will continue to get starters minutes. Davis is a high % shooter who doesn't take a ton of shots, but is efficient You can expect 12 and 7 from him each night as long as Bargnani's elbow keeps him in street clothes.
Spencer Hawes (47%) - 7 of the 76ers last 8 games has seen Hawes in double figures, and yet for some reason Kwame Brown still starts over him. Hawes does get about 25 minutes per game in December and while the 12 points per game is nice, it would be even better to see Hawes grabbing more than 6.4 rebounds per night. At 7' tall he should be leading his team in rebounding every game!

How do you plan on replacing Glen Davis? Do you plan on adding any of these guys even though you don't own Big Baby? Let us know what you plan on doing and we will let you know our opinion!
