5 QB Matchups I Love
  • Robert Griffin III - RG3 is facing the Buccaneers the worst pass defense in the NFL this week. If you got him start him.
  • Matt Schaub - He threw 4 TDs against the Broncos who have an above average defense, he now faces a Titans defense who are giving up nearly 38 points a game.
  • Joe Flacco - The Browns are still without their top defensive back Joe Haden who is suspended. The Ravens are home and Flacco is off to a great start this year averaging 2 TDs and more than 300 yards per game.

2 More Runnings Backs Injured in Week 3

After losing Ryan Mathews in the preseason, Fred Jackson in Week 1 and Matt Forte in Week 2, the NFL and Fantasy Football players world wide lost another two running backs in Week 3!

During the Miami Dolphins / New York Jets game, Reggie Bush (97% owned Yahoo), who had been avg 6.1 yards per carry, took a helmet to the knee that has sidelined Bush in 2007 (PCL) and 2008 (MCL) and didn't return.  Bush is  going to miss at least 3 weeks and could potentially be held out of action until after their Week 7 Bye.  Daniel Thomas (12 %) and rookie Lamar Miller (3%) is in line for carries and a 50/50 split is likely to happen until one back earns more carries.

Fav QB Matchup - Tony Romo vs Tampa Bay BuccaneersAfter Eli Manning just torched the Bucs for 500 passing yards, Romo and Co. must be salivating at the chance to line up against this defense.  They were contained by a really good Seahawks defense last week and should explode for a ton of points this week.

Aaron Hernandez to Miss at Least 6 Weeks

Not only did the New England Patriots lose a shoe-in of a game to the Arizona Cardinals, but they lost TE Aaron Hernandez to a possible high ankle sprain.  It appears Hernandez will miss at least the next 6 week.  Being owned in 99% of Yahoo leagues, there is going to be a ton of TE waiver wire action going on this week.  Normally I would start by telling you who to go pick up, but this time I'm going to start by telling you to avoid Dante Rosario (2%) of the San Diego Chargers.  He did catch 3 touchdowns this week but Antonio Gates was a last minute scratch and SHOULD be able to return next week.  However, if you own Gates and want to handcuff him and have bench space, go get Rosario!

Matt Forte Suffers High Ankle Sprain

Here we are again.  Last week it was Fred Jackson of the Bills and this week, just one game into this week, we have lost another potential RB1 in Matt Forte.  The High Ankle Sprain, which diagnosis could change for both better or worse, is looking to keep Forte out around 4 weeks.  If that is the case he will miss games  against the St. Louis Rams, Dallas Cowboys and Jacksonville Jaguars, then have the bye week to prepare for his return against the Detroit Lions.  While the Bears are looking to find positive test results, Matt Forte owners should be looking towards next week and how they plan on replacing him in their lineups.

It goes without saying that you start by looking to see if Michael Bush (78%) is currently on the waiver wire or not.  If he is you have found your answer, however, with Jackson's injury last week he was a popular addition to many rosters.  The Arizona Cardinals hold a nice long term solution to fill your RB position with Ryan Williams who is currently just 47% owned for some reason.  With "starter" Beanie Wells bothered by a hamstring injury, Williams is due to see an increase in workload against a new and improved Patriots defense, but he is worth the risk!

Week 2 Fantasy Football News & Notes

  • WHAT IS YOUR PLAN FOR REPLACING JENNINGS IN TONIGHTS MATCHUP?
    • UPDATE: GREG JENNINGS IS RULED OUT OF TOMORROW NIGHT GAME AGAINST THE BEARS
      • With the Packers playing Thursday Night against the Bears and Greg Jennings listed as doubtful with a groin injury, you should find a replacement for week 2.
        • Randall Cobb will continue to see an increased workload
  • Devery Henderson of the Saints has been diagnosed with a concussion after taking a hit against the Redskins.
    • There is still a possibility that he can play Sunday against the Panthers so keep an eye on his situation if you own and start him in deeper leagues.
  • Calvin Johnson was held out of practice on Wednesday but it appears Megatron was just given the day off to rest.
    • There has been no indication that Johnson is injured but coach Jim Schwartz would not disclose on his status.
  • WHAT IS YOUR BACKUP PLAN FOR JEREMY MACLIN?
    • Eagles wideout Jeremy Maclin did not practice today with a hip injury.
      • This is not a good sign but Coach Andy Reid has not ruled Maclin out for Sunday's match up with the Ravens.
  • Fred Jackson's timetable for his knee injury is now 3-8 weeks.
    • This is a huge time frame but Jackson has recieved inconclusive results from his MRI.  Jackson hopes to return week 4 against the Patriots but that's highly unlikely at this point.
  •  Colts reciever Austin Collie has been given clearance to give 100% on Sunday.
    • Collie was supposed to play in week 1 but was inactive.  Looks like he'll be out there against the Vikings.
  •  Jonathan Stewart returned to practice today.  As of now he should be considered a game time decision on Sunday.
    • If he can get through practice on Thursday and Friday then he'll most likely play, but after last week it's hard to trust any RB in Carolina.
  • LeGarrette Blount will be going for an MRI on both his neck and back after suffering an injury in the second quarter on Sunday.
    • Doesn't look like Blount will suit up on Sunday against the Giants.  D.J Ware might get some playing time against the team that cut him right before the season started.

Fav QB Matchup - Cam Newton vs Saints
After seeing what rookie Robert Griffin III (19/26, 320, 2 TD, 40 rushing yards) did to this Saints defense in his first career start you have to assume a similar outcome for Cam Newton. Newton and Griffin III play almost identical styles of quarterback, and watching the Saints have trouble with the scrambling ability of RGIII you have to imagine Newton is salivating at the thought of this match up.  Expect Newton to bounce back and have a big game in week 2.
    • Cam had a super efficient game completing 70% of his 20 passing attempts for 253 yards and a score.  He also rushed for 71 yards and scored as well.

Fav QB Matchup - Jay Cutler vs Colts
The Colts did nothing to help a terrible defense returning from last year (Vontae Davis should scare me?).  They allowed opponents to complete over 70% of their passes and QBs finished with a 103.9 QB rating on average.  With Brandon Marshall and Michael Bush added to the offense, Cutler has more than enough weapons to dismantle the Colts secondary.  Plus the Colts only picked off 8 passes last year so Cutler can get away with his usual risky throws.  We know the Bears pass protection is horrible but the Colts couldn't even muster 30 sacks last season.  On top of all that, the Bears defense should keep the Colts offense off the field for most of the game.
    • He started slow, but Cutler settled down and hooked up with Marshall 9 times for over 100 yards and a TD, while targeting him 15 times!  21 completions, 333 yards and 2 TDs looks good week in and week out for a QB regularly drafted as the 10-14 QB.

Fred Jackson Out at least 3 Weeks

Not only did the Buffalo Bills get beat ever so badly by their division rival, the New York Jets, but they lost BOTH Fred Jackson (98 % owned Yahoo) and David Nelson who is done for the season (8%).  Fred Jackson, who also missed the last 6 weeks of last season will miss at least the next 3 weeks after taking a shot to the knees from hard hitting LaRon Landry.  It looked like a season ending injury while watching it live and you can take a look at it here.

With so many owners relying on Fred Jackson to be their RB1 this season, there is going to be a ton of Waiver Wire and trade action in your league this week.  If you are involved in any transaction revolving around this remember, YOU HAVE THE UPPER HAND, unless of course you are the one who lost Fred Jackson.  If that is the case, do not expect people to feel bad for you or make a trade that does not strongly benefit them.  You are going to have to be bold in your offer if you want to trade for a running back.

Sponsored Post: What Owners Should Do With Already Injured Stars In Fantasy Football

The 2012 NFL season has not even kicked off yet, but the injuries are starting to pile up for several fantasy football players. While most of these injuries are not season-ending, as far as fantasy football is concerned people do need to take them into consideration if they are still preparing for a draft. Here’s a look at some advice for a few of the top players in the league with injury issues

    Trent Richardson
    • The Cleveland Browns, and fantasy owners for that matter, are already expecting big things from the rookie. Knee injuries have slowed him down a bit though, and there is a chance he sees limited action in the first few weeks of the season. His draft stock should not drop too much, because the knee issues are something he has dealt with well in the past.

    2012 NFL Season Predictions

    Standings
    *Denotes Wildcard Teams
    AFC East -
    1. Patriots
    2. Jets
    3. Bills
    4. Dolphins
    • I think everyone is in agreement that the Patriots are the elite team in the AFC East and its not even close. It would not surprise me if the Patriots sweep their division this season and get an easy 6 wins.  At 12-4 or 13-3, New England will win this division by nearly 5 games as the Jets Bills and Dolphins will not finish better than .500.
