QB Match-ups to Avoid

Joe Flacco @ Browns - Flacco is averaging just 21 completions per game and 266 yards.  He has been a major let down this season and the Browns have held Philip Rivers, Andrew Luck and Andy Dalton to just 50 points in the last 3 weeks.

Ryan Fitzpatrick @ Texans - The Texans have allowd 7 passing TDs in their last 2 matchups with Aaron Rodgers and Joe Flacco.  After a BYE week you can expect Wade Philips will be extra prepared to stop the Bills passing attack in order to keep their two stud RBs in check.

James Harden Traded to Rockets

Wow.

So last night the Western Conference Champion Oklahoma City Thunder traded Sixth Man of the Year, and fan favorite James Harden to the Houston Rockets for Kevin Martin, rookie Jeremy Lamb and draft picks.  Rumor has it that this all escalated VERY quickly after Harden turned down a 4 year $52-53 mil offer, because Harden wanted a 5 year max deal.

While we can spend days discussing why this deal was good or bad for either side, lets focus on how this affects Harden's Fantasy Basketball value.

QB Match-ups to Avoid

Matthew Stafford vs Seahawks - Things still have not gotten better for Matthew Stafford who just continues to struggle.  It might get even worse after losing veteran Nate Burleson for the year with a broken leg.  This week against the Seahawks he has to go up against a secondary where the cornerbacks Brandon Browner is 6'4 and Richard Sherman is 6'3.  Safties Kam Chancellor is 6'3 and Earl Thomas is 5'10.  So Seattle has a big, strong, physical secondary that should result in another mediocre performance for Stafford

Eli Manning @ Cowboys - Eli looked off all day against the Redskins until that beautifully thrown 77 yard bomb to Cruz to win the game.  He played and lost against the Cowboys to open the season and Eli went 21/32 for 213 yards and a TD.  I expect the Giants will run pretty often rather then challenge a great secondary.  Especially after seeing Bradshaw flip out, demanding to get the ball.  The Giants have had a great run game all season and it helps to have the depth that they have with Bradshaw, Brown and Wilson.  I don't expect a big game from Eli, Dallas is ranked 3rd against the pass.

Fantasy Football Week 8 - Waiver Wire Pickups

Must Haves

Rashad Jennings RB (29% owned) - With Maurice Jones-Drew going out, you have to pick up Jennings, especially if you had MJD.  Like I always say, if there is a starting RB out there, they are a must have.  Jones-Drew is already ruled out for week 8, and being that he's on crutches, he might be out for an extended period of time.

Josh Freeman QB (54% owned) - Freeman has been great over the past 3 weeks racking up 7 TDs and only 2 INTs, and is averaging 349 yards per game over that span.  Freeman has been connecting with V-Jax and Mike Williams down the field which is a good sign and with guys like Stafford, Vick, and Romo struggling, Freeman is a very solid option at QB going forward.

Fantasy Football Week 8 Player Rankings

Each week fantasy owners are left with gut wrenching decisions when finalizing their starting lineups.  Can Josh Freeman duplicate last weeks success? Will Darren McFadden actually help me this week against the Chiefs?  Should I start Malcom Floyd over Dwayne Bowe?  What can I expect from Jason Witten?  You fill you roster with waiver wire moves and feel obligated to play them but are they really your BEST option?

With some help from our friends over at Fantasy Football Today we used their Strength of Schedule Generator, based on our custom scoring from our fantasy league, and came up with player rankings based solely on fantasy points allowed by position.  We looked at the amount of fantasy points allowed over the entire season and averaged them out with fantasy points allowed over the last 3 weeks and came up with the following rankings:

What to do With Maurice Jones-Drew

Yesterday afternoon there were just two games that kicked off at 4:25 EST, the New England Patriots hosting the New York Jets and the Oakland Raiders hosting the Jacksonville Jaguars and Oakland's own MJD.  On just his second carry of the afternoon, Maurice Jones-Drew suffered a foot injury that landed him on the sideline and crutches for the rest of the game.  The extent of the injury is currently unknown but fantasy owners need to take action right away and fear for the worst.  Backup Rashad Jennings (22% owned Yahoo) finished the game taking 21 carries for 44 yards and a TD while adding 7 catches out of the backfield for 58 more yards.  He is probably the 1st guy you should look to add just because he is one of the few "starting" RBs left on waivers.

Fantasy Football Week 7 - Waiver Wire Pickups

Must Haves

Alex Green RB (51% owned) - Yes Green might be on a pass heavy offense but the Packers put up points.  Green will see touches inside the red zone and we know the Packers get there often. Coach McCarthy said that Green will carry a full load.  In fantasy football if there's a starting RB out there you have to pick him up, especially on a great offense like Green Bay.

Josh Gordon WR (16% owned) - Gordon is a big play waiting to happen.  He has passed Greg Little and Mohamed Massaquoi on the depth charts, and he has formed a connection with Brandon Weeden.  In the last two games Gordon has 3 touchdowns of 71, 62, and 20 yards.  He's not going to rack up 10 catches in a game but he's a big threat to score a long touchdown each week.

QB Match-ups to Avoid

Matthew Stafford @ Bears - Whats there to like in Stafford's match-up with the Bears on Monday night in Chicago? In 5 games, Stafford has thrown for just 4 TDs and 5 INTs, and has yet to have a multi TD game.  Chicago hands down has the most dominant and aggressive defense in the NFL this year, allowing the least rushing yards per game and only 225 yards through the air.  In 5 games the Bears have only allowed 6 TDs total and have picked off opposing QBs 13 times, while sacking them 18 times.  This is all a recipe for disaster for Matthew Stafford.

Fantasy Football Week 7 Player Rankings

Each week fantasy owners are left with gut wrenching decisions when finalizing their starting lineups.  Should I sit Wilson this week for Weeden?  Is this the week that Doug Martin finally breaks out?  Can I trust Crabtree against the Seahawks?  Is Jimmy Graham 100%?  You fill you roster with waiver wire moves and feel obligated to play them but are they really your BEST option?

QB Match-ups to Avoid

Matthew Stafford @ Eagles - In 5 games the Eagles defense has only allowed 5 passing TDs and have picked off opposing QBs 6 times.  Stafford has had chances for some big games this year (Rams, Vikings, Titans) but has only thrown 3 TDs and 4 INTs in 4 games in 2012.  Philly has arguably the best duo at cornerback with  Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. Dont expect Stafford to break out this week.

Tony Romo @ Ravens - Well the numbers aren't pretty for Romo with 5 TDs and 8 INTs in 2012, and coming off a 5 INT game there is a ton of pressure on the Cowboys quarterback.  Romo looked great kicking off the season against the Giants but in his last 3 games he's only thrown 2 TDs with 7 INTs.  Going against the Ravens, it's going to be a similar game for Romo as he will face a scary blitzing defense.  Although the Ravens rank 23rd in pass defense, they've only surrendered 2 TDs and have picked off 6 passes.  The Cowboys run game has been non-existent as they've failed to run for 50 yards as a team in their last 3.  Romo will have to throw a lot and that means multiple turnovers.

Joe Flacco vs Cowboys - Dallas is currently ranked #1 against the pass as they've put together a dominant secondary with Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne.  Flacco struggled against the Chiefs last week and we should see a lot of carries for Ray Rice as they'll look to get him going early.  Hard to imagine Flacco has a big bounce back week against the Cowboys.

Arizona Cardinals Ryan Williams Out for Season

This week proved to end yet another players season, this time it was running back Ryan Williams (57% owned Yahoo) of the Arizona Cardinals. This just a short while after they placed Beanie Wells on the IR, but can return in November be it Week 12 or Week 13. Williams will require shoulder surgery to repair the AC Joint. The Cardinals ran the ball extremely well in the preseason using all of their backs but have struggled to gain yards on the ground after 5 games. They are the only team not gaining 3 yards per carry.

La'Rod Stephens-Howling (2%) and William Powell (2%) should split carries in the backfield, but Powell suffered a head injury and possible concussion last week so he might not be available this week. If so, Alfonso Smith (0%) should get in the mix in the backfield.

Avoid Jackie Battle (60%) and Andre Brown (64%) who will be listed on the top 25 RB list as Battle is giving way to Ryan Mathews and Andre Brown is injured and Ahmad Bradshaw proved healthy and capable of carrying the ball 30 times.

Danny Amendola Breaks Collarbone - Out 4-6 Weeks

After losing quality RBs in the early weeks of the football season, the injury focus has now shifted to the WR position.  The New York Jets lost former Super Bowl MVP Santonio Holmes for the season with a LisFranc injury and last night during Thursday Night Football the St. Louis Rams lost Danny Amendola to a broken collarbone.

FOR STARTERS STAY AWAY FROM ALL JETS RECEIVERS!  With the way Mark Sanchez has played lately, the fact that Tm Tebow will be the starter soon and no running game, the Jets have ZERO players worth owning!

Start with Kendall Wright (32% owned Yahoo) of the Tennessee Titans.  I know the Titans are a wreck but they are also one of the leagues worst defenses leaving the offense to play catch up quite often and forcing them to throw the ball more often than they would like.

Favorable QB Matchups

Christian Ponder vs Teneesee Titans - The Vikings have the been surprise team of the league after a quarter of the season and a matchup against the Defense that has allowed the most completions should provide Ponder with excellent fantasy numbers.

Eli Manning vs Cleveland Browns - Without Joe Haden the Browns can't stop anyone that decides to throw the ball on them.  No team has been thrown on more than the Browns and Eli and Co. are pretty good at tossing the pigskin around.

Matt Ryan @ Washington Redskins - No team has allowed more passing yards than the Redskins and the Falcons have two of the leagues best receivers, plus the greatest TE of all time.

Fantasy Baseball 2012 - Pitchers Rankings (End of Season Update)

Fantasy Football Week 4 Targets Leaders

Since targets have become a stat, fantasy junkies have fallen in love with it, including us! But just because your favorite WR gets thrown to 12 times each week, that does not guarantee anything! That is why we calculated their Catch % for you!
