NBA Plays for 11/30

Friday’s action gives us with plenty of value picks to choose from, but we don’t need but one to fulfill our lineup. The value is spread out everywhere on Draftkings with many great picks between $7,000 and $5,000. Surprisingly we only have two picks that break the 7k mark. For Friday’s picks, we give to you our top plays at each position and a great value play at each.

Point Guard:

• Russell Westbrook
• Jrue Holiday
• Damian Lillard

Value Play- Jeremy Pargo

Westbrook looks to break 40 fantasy points again for the first time in his last three meetings, but with the day off and a home game he should be great. Holiday is a lock for 30+ points and could get you 50 on any given night. Facing a bad Charlotte team we’re leaning towards 40+. Lillard goes up against a weakened Boston team with no Rondo. He’s been great for over 35 in three of last four games.

11 games are on tap for Wednesday, and that means plenty of options. This also means you have to be on top of your game as the winning totals will be higher then other nights. We’re going to give you something different tonight that should be great with how many options there are Wednesday. We are going to give you our favorite plays from each price level that way you can mix and match as you like. Our first price level are the cheap ones:

Fantasy Basketball Week 4 Recap

A week ago Sunday, Cleveland Cavaliers PG Kyrie Irving injured his finger, leaving the Cavs with a huge hole to fill at the Point Guard position.  They had 4 options to fill the position:

1. Rookie Dion Waiters who played the point at Syracuse, but is really a Shooting Guard
2. Veteran Daniel "Boobie" Gibson, who is a 3pt chucker
3. Second year player Jeremy Pargo who the Cavaliers traded for back in July
4. Journeyman Donald Sloan who has dominated the D-League for the last 2 seasons

The Cavaliers decided to go with Pargo and in 3 starts he has not disappointed. dropping 28 points in his first game, he has followed that up with 15 and 16 point performances shooting 22 for 46 over that span including 7 for 16 from downtown!  As expected, there were not many assists handed out, 12 over 3 games but Pargo has done a good job helping fantasy owners.  Still just 22% owned in Yahoo leagues, Pargo can help for still another month, and is definitely worth owning!

QB Match-ups to Avoid

Carson Palmer @ Bengals - If there was ever a week you wanted to lean on Carson Palmer to help you get a W in fantasy football, it was last week against the dreadful Saints secondary.  He finished with 312 yards, 2 TDs and 2 INTs.  Not the greatest of games against the 31st ranked pass defense.  He'll have a tougher time against the Bengals who made Eli Manning look like he didn't belong in the NFL and held the Chiefs passing game to 171 yards and no TDs.  I don't expect the Bengals to make it 3 straight games without allowing a passing TD but they certainly have a great chance to shut down Palmer.

Matt Schaub @ Lions - 43/55 for 527 yards (2nd most in NFL history) with 5 TDs.  That's one of the greatest QB stat lines you'll ever see.  This happened largely because the Texans somehow were trailing the Jaguars nearly the whole game. The Lions are a top 10 pass defense in the NFL and held Aaron Rodgers in check last week.  Expect the Texans to go back to the ground and pound offense led by Arian Foster.

So You Want to Make a Fantasy Basketball Trade?

Today, boys and girls, I’m going to give you the gift of fantasy basketball trade strategy. Are you excited? Don’t answer, I can’t here you anyway. How many times have you gotten a trade offer and wondered if the other owner even bothered to look at your team? When it happens to me I just shake my head and wonder what the other guy was thinking as I silently move my mouse to the reject button. Sigh. I know it’s happened to you, too. Happens to everyone! If you’re that guy making the offer, please stop, it’s embarrassing. All you need is a little common sense and some basic 4th grade math skills to become a reasonable and efficient trade partner. Incidentally this trade advice isn’t just limited to fantasy hoops, you can also apply the same to fantasy baseball and football! Here are some trade strategies that you can utilize to help improve your team.

Kyrie Irving - Fractured Finger Out 4 Weeks

UPDATE: In the past 12 hours, Minnesota Timberwolves Alexey Shved (17%), Cleveland's Daniel Gibson (10%), and the Bobcats Ramon Sessions (51%) have been the most popular replacement PGs.  Shved is a 6'6 Russian who dropped 22 points in his last outting while dishing out 7 assists and knocking down three 3pointers.  Not the worst option at the moment with all of the injuires the T'Wolves are currently dealing with.

Bad news out of Cleveland, as superstar PG Kyrie Irving is set to miss the next month with a fractured finger.

Irving will be impossible to replace as he is putting up 22 points 6 assist and 4 rebounds per game.  Daniel "Boobie" Gibson (5% owned Yahoo) and Dion Waiters (70%) are due for the biggest increase in playing time and potential stat boosting.  But do not forget about Jeremy Pargo (0%) & Donald Sloan (0%)!  Gibson, Waiters and Sloan has never been known to dish out the assists but they all can score the ball, be it in different ways.  Gibson is purely a 3pt shooter, Waiters has a decent 3pt shot but can also get the basket, and should be able to prove this now with more plays running through him instead of Kyrie.

Fantasy Football Week 12 - Waiver Wire Pickups

Must Haves

Ronnie Hillman (18%) RB Broncos - The Broncos offense if rolling with Peyton Manning leading the way.  Willis McGahee will be out 6-8 weeks, which means Ronnie Hillman takes over as the Broncos starting RB. If you have McGahee or have other injuries or lack of production at RB then go out and pick Hillman up.

Marcel Reece (66%) RB Raiders - If Reece is still available in your league, go get him!  Reece had 103 rushing yards against the Saints and added 4 catches for 90 yards.  Over the past 3 weeks Reece has 19 catches for 241 yards and a TD. He is a PPR owner's dream.  Reece played WR in college which explains why he's such a great receiver out of the backfield.  Rumors are that McFadden has a chance to return but being that he's had a history of injury problems and the Raiders are not in the playoff hunt, I think it's a safe bet that Reece will be the starting RB for the Raiders for the upcoming weeks.

Fantasy Basketball Week 3 Recap

Well the Knicks finally lost and now the new headline shifts the NBA's focus to Philadelphia where recently acquired center Andrew Bynum has confirmed that he injured his healthy knee while rehabbing his injured knee, all while bowling.  Not only has his hairstyles caused mass confusion around the internet, but now his "new" injury is  confusing fantasy owners!  What should you do with a man of his size who has constant knee issues?  At this point, unless you have significant bench spots, or the ability to stash him in an IR slot, its time to dump Bynum.  He can't help you now and will not be helping you anytime soon.

In other NBA injury news, Kawhi Leonard (53% owned Yahoo) of the San Antonio Spurs will miss at least the next 2 weeks with knee tendinitis.  Not a bad time to slide Stephen Jackson (7%) into your lineups if you have room. Brandon Roy (26%) will undergo another knee surgery, his 7th since high school.  The Timberwolves are the new Clippers.

QB Match-ups to Avoid

Joe Flacco @ Steelers - The Raiders defense is NOT the Steelers!  Flacco has been bad more often than good and the Steelers are the best pass defense in the league.  Flacco threw 3 TDs last week and 3 in the 3 weeks before while throwing for more than just 200 yards once in the prior 4 weeks!  Horrible matchup, plus bad blood between the two teams makes this a game won on the ground.  Oh and they play each other twice in the next 3 weeks.  If you own Flacco, try and trade him to a Big Ben, Mike Vick owner!

Fantasy Football Week 11 - Waiver Wire Pickups

Must Haves

Danny Amendola (70%) WR Rams - Hey guys, remember him?  Yeah, he played last week and caught an 80 yard bomb in OT that was called back by a stupid illegal formation penalty.  Even without that grab Amendola caught 11 passes for 102 yards.  He just somehow continues to NOT find the endzone.  Either way, a great PPR WR.

Fantasy Basketball Week 2 Recap

The headline surrounding week 2 of the NBA season has nothing to do which what occurred during the week, yet with what is going to happen in the upcoming weeks.  The Los Angeles Lakers have fired head coach Mike Brown after a 1-4 start to the NBA season.  The have turn to Mike D'Antoni to take over and bring his uptempo offense to a team that was struggling, well not offensively but defensively  I think we all know D'Antoni's track record when it comes to playing defense, or lack thereof.  Steve Nash is already injured and MDA's history suggest that this style of play will not feature Kobe Bryant.  It will be extremely interesting and ton of fun to follow during week 3.

Getting back on track, last week saw rookie Dion Waiters (73% owned Yahoo) and widely available Shannon Brown (15%) go off as each of them had two 20 point game.  Waiters is definitely surprising fantasy owners with 3pt play as he is shooting an uncontainable 53% from beyond the arc making over 2 per game!  Owners should NOT expect this to continue as he was 7 for 11 in a 28 point outing against the Clippers.  Shannon Brown has also impressed with the long ball going 6 for 8 in a 24 point night against the Bobcats.  However, outside of that game, Brown is just 6 for 19.

QB Match-ups to Avoid

Mike Vick vs Cowboys - Defensive players are blasting through the weak Eagles offensive line which is causing Vick to take huge hits and scramble for his life.  Vick has no time to sit in the pocket and find an open receiver.  7 sacks, throwing a pick 6 and fumbling (eagles recovered) against a Saints defense who is far from good is not a good sign.  The Cowboys in back to back weeks did not allow a TD pass from Eli Manning and Matt Ryan.  Cowboys should blitz all game against the Eagles which mean sacks and fumbles and keeping Vick uncomfortable.

Matt Schaub @ Bears - The Bears defense is creating turnovers at a historic rate. Matt Schaub has been very hit or miss this year and that's largely due to Arian Foster.  It's hard to imagine the Texans will look to throw more often than run so you have to assume Schaub will have a mediocre game at best.  It's almost a guarantee that the Bears will force a turnover or two, so if you have a better option at QB this week, go with it.

Fantasy Football Week 10 - Waiver Wire Pickups

Must Haves

Brandon Myers TE (24% owned) - TEs like Pettigrew, Rudolph, and Finley should not be on your team as they have become ghosts in their offense.  Myers is a TE you need to have.  With the Raiders hurting at RB, the offense will lean on Carson Palmer and he'll have to air it out.  Palmer did just that on Sunday against the Bucs and Myers benefited.  Myers finished with 8 catches for 59 yards and 2 TDs.  PPR league or not, add Myers if you dont have one of the elite TEs.

Fantasy Basketball Week 1 Recap

Its pretty clear that James Harden has been the story of the 1st week of the 2012-'13 NBA season.  With over 100 points scored in his 1st three games as a member of the Rockets, Harden is averaging 35 points per game, 6 rebounds and 6 assists.  However, just one night after shooting 72%, Harden shot just 33% and its clear that fatigue is going to set in during the course of an 82 game season.  Do not expect 40 or even 30 point performances on a regular basis.  However you can expect him to continue to fill the stat sheet up with at least 5 assists and rebounds every night.  Other positive surprises around the league range from Damian Lillard looking like the clear Rookie of the Year out in Portland, and Carmelo Anthony looking to battle LeBron James and Kevin Durant for the MVP award. 

Lillard has scored at least 20 points in the Trail Blazers first 3 games and is averaging 9 assists and 4 rebounds a night.  Everthing you read about Lillard is positive and everyone in Portland is already in love with his style of play. 

Darren Sproles Out for Monday Night Football

Saints RB Darren Sproles is ruled out for Monday Night Football after having surgery on his broken hand.  This is huge news and LATE as waiver claims have already gone through!!!  Look quickly to add Pierre Thomas (62% owned Yahoo, 71% ESPN) or Mark Ingram (22%, 59%).

Obviously a huge blow to Sproles owners, but Marques Colston, Jimmy Graham and Lance Moore owners should be VERY pleased.
