Top NBA Plays for 1/2/12

The new year is here, and it’s time to get back on the grind. We have a full slate of games tonight to help us do this. Draftkings has started to crack down on wrongly priced guys, so fielding the same quality lineup is getting tougher. There are still cheap players that we feel have high potential like Marco Belinelli and Marcus Morris. Although it’s only a matter of time before the health of Rip and Patrick Patterson will be changing that. With all this being said, we give to you our top 3 plays for each position based on their value, and consistency.
Point Guard:
  1. Kyrie Irving
  2. Greivis Vasquez
  3. Russell Westbrook
Kyrie matches up against one of the worst teams defensively against point guards, the Kings, tonight. As long as he has a pulse he should be a lock for 35+ fantasy points. Vasquez has been one of the sleepers of the season (can we say I told you so yet?). His play has been great on a very below average team. Houston gives up a ton of points and this should be a great matchup for him. Westbrook has put up 47+ in three straight games and goes up against eron Williams. Yes, We left the “D” out of his name on purpose, for a reason.

Shooting Guard:
  1. Monta Ellis
  2. Paul George
  3. Nicolas Batum
Monta has put up great numbers as of late, putting up averaging 47 fantasy points a game in the last ten days. Paul George has put up 37 fantasy points a game in his last 4 games, and goes against the Wizards tonight who he has surprisingly not done great versus. If Hill is out George will have to take over and that’s a big plus for him. Batum hasn’t played the Raptors this season, and is looking to increase his average of fantasy points of 38 a game.

Small Forward:
  1. LeBron James
  2. Kevin Durant
  3. James Harden
Let’s not out think ourselves here with these small forward choices. LeBron and Durant are two of the best plays in fantasy each and every night. Harden has been as hot as they come and if you can fit any of these three guys on any night then it’s something you should do.

Power Forward:
  1. Kevin Love
  2. David Lee
  3. LaMarcus Aldridge
Kevin Love has really burned us this season, but when he shoots well he’s a great play. He seems like a lock for 12+ rebounds a night which means his scoring is the only thing that’s holding him back from being the best fantasy basketballer in the NBA. David Lee is as consistent as they come averaging 37 fantasy points a game in his last four games. He has an average matchup against the Clippers, but it should mean a high scoring game.  LA has a very nice matchup going against the Raptors and should be bound for a nice double double game.

Center:
  1. DeMarcus Cousins
  2. Joakim Noah
  3. Zach Randolph
All three guys on the list should be good for double doubles, but DMC has the highest upside with his skill set and the lack of strength down low for the Cavs. Noah has had some very average games in the last two games, but should be good for a double double against the Magic. Vucevic has been great for the Magic, but Noah should be able to have a very nice night. ZBo goes up against one of the worst rebounding teams in the league, the Celtics, and should be good for another 18-12 night.
