This weekend the Detroit Tigers outscored the Houston Astros 37-8 in a four game sweep at Minute Maid Ballpark.  Detroit 8 home runs, 3 off of Philip Humber, who allowed 8 earned in 4 innings, and now owns and 0-7 record.  Miguel Cabrera added 7 hits, including a two home run game, 7 RBI and scored 5 times.  Could he possibly win back-to-back Triple Crowns?  Prince Fielder also had a nice weekend adding 5 hits, hitting his 8th home run and driving in 4 runs.

Victor Martinez got a hit in each game and is now hitting .220, up from .198 on April 29th.  He hit his 1st home run of the season and drove in 5 runs, so hopefully this is a sign that good things are coming!

Torii Hunter was 1 for 10 in the first two games before going 4 for 5 on Saturday, scoring 3 times and driving in two.  He got the day off yesterday.

Austin Jackson picked up 5 hits and scored 5 times but failed to drive in any runs.

Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer earned their 4th wins of the season and Jose Valverde closed the door on his 3rd save.  Verlander and Scherzer combined for 15 innings, 5 hits and 17 strikeouts.

The Los Angeles Angels woes continue, as they drop 3 of 4 to the Baltimore Orioles at home.  In what was Joe Blanton's longest and best start of the season, it was not enough as he fell to 0-5 but lowered his ERA from 7.09 to 5.98.  Jason Vargas saved the Angels from being swept with a complete game shutout.  Tommy Hanson gave LA 5 solid innings but the bullpen and the bats couldn't pick him up.  And last night Jerome Williams couldn't finish the 5th.  The Angels need to look at dealing a bat for an arm.

Jim Johnson and Darren O'Day earned saves for the Birds.

Manny Machado hit his 4th and 5th home runs of the season and the 20 year old has been VERY impressive this season.  According to our rankings, Machado is currently the 7th best overall player and 5th best hitter.

Josh Hamilton went 1 for 9 with 4 strike outs as his batting average dropped to .209.  Albert Pujols wasn't much better going 2 for 12 with 3 Ks and his average is now down to .237.

Mark Trumbo hit 2 home runs and raised his RBI total to 20, while Mike Trout also hit 2 home runs and drove in his 22nd RBI.

The Texas Rangers outscored the Boston Red Sox 16-4 in a three game sweep.  Derek Holland went 8 innings striking out 9, shutting out the Sox, Yu Darvish struck out 14 over 7 and Alexei Ogando allowed a single run over 6 innings.  Jon Lester and Darvish went head to head and neither pitched very well.  Texas won on a walk off Adrian Beltre single.  Beltre had a great series with 7 hits and 4 RBI.  He raised his average from .215 to .250.

David Ortiz now has 4 home runs and 17 RBI in just 50 ABs!

The Kansas City Royals and Chicago White Sox had their series shortened by bad weather.  They are plyaing today to finish the series.  After Jeremy Guthrie shut out the Sox offense, Alex Gordon won it for the Royals in the bottom of the 10th in the next game with a walk off single.  Addison Reed blew the save in the bottom of the 9th, allowing the Royals to score two runs to forc extra innings.

Jason Kipnis drove in 6 of his 10 RBI in the Indians two wins over the Twins.  Kipnis hit 2 triples and a home run.  He went 0fer in the loss to Mike PelfreyGlen Perkins saved his 7th games

Mark Reynolds picked up an RBI in each game, and now has 29 on the season.  He also hit his 9th home run.

The Seattle Mariners held the Toronto Blue Jays offense to just 1 run over the first two games before they exploded for a 10-2 victory.  Felix Hernandez went 8 shutout innings to earn his 4th victory and Hisashi Iwakuma allowed a single run over 7 innings to pick up his 3rd win.  Rickey Romero and R.A. Dickey had unproductive starts.  Romero lasted just 4 innings in his first start in the Majors this season and Dickey allowed 3 more home runs, 2 too Michael Saunders.

The Blue Jays backed Brandon Morrows solid 8 innings of work with 10 runs on 15 hits including Melky Cabrera's 1st homer.  Mark DeRosa chipped in 3 RBI.

The Oakland Athletics won the series in the Bronx as the Yankees were shut out by A.J. Griffin over 7 and had trouble with the Athletics bullpen.  Grant Balfour earned his 4th and 5th saves.  Oakland beat Andy Pettitte and CC Sabathia but where shut out over 8 innings by Phil Hughes.  Go Figure.
