Baseballs Future All-Stars

Austin Hedges, Archie Bradley & Taijuan WalkerMike and I had the luxury of going to the MLB Futures All-Star game today.  The quality of play was not all that impressive, as hitters struggled against baseballs brightest pitching prospects.  As Mets fans, it was fun to watch our guys Noah Syndergaard and Rafael Montero get the start in front of the home crowd.

Christian Yelich, Marlins OF, doubled home Dodgers OF Joc Pederson to give USA a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning.  Arismendy Alcantara, Cubs 2b, hit a home run in the 4th to get the crowd into it and tie the game up 1-1.  Later that inning, Jordan Lennerton, Tigers 1B, hit a sacrifice fly to score Red Sox SS Xander Bogaerts,, giving the World a 2-1 lead.

In the bottom half, Diamondbacks 3B, Matt Davidson, hit a 2 run BOMB to center field, giving USA the lead again, 3-2.  Davidson would go on to win the games MVP award.

Garin Cecchini,
Red Sox 3B, added an insurance run in the 8th inning, scoring Reds OF speedster Billy Hamilton.

The first half of baseball is over and while many teams have already made their move to call up their best prospects in AAA, these guys are still grinding it out, trying to get noticed by their big league ballclubs.

Anyone from your favorite MLB team on this list? Do you want them called up and pitching for your ballclub? Let us know in the comment section!
