Houston Astros Bring George Springer to Majors

The Houston Astros have called up top prospect George Springer. Houston is off to a 5-9 start and have scored just 40 runs. They need Springer's bat in the lineup. In 51 ABs at AAA this season, Springer has hit 4 doubles, a triple and 3 home runs, driving in 9 runs, scored 17 times and stole 4 bases. In 2013 between AA and AAA, Springer hit 37 home runs, 27 doubles and stole 45 bases while driving in 108 runners and scoring 106 runs.

The Astros hadn't announced Springer's promotion or the corresponding move, but the Houston Chronicle reported that outfielder Robbie Grossman will be sent to Triple-A to make roster room for Springer. The newspaper also reported that pitcher Lucas Harrell, who has allowed 14 runs in three starts this season, will be designated for assignment.
