NBA Playoffs Simulation - Memphis Grizzlies vs Oklahoma City Thunder

Offense vs Defense.  The leagues leading scorer against one of the best defensive team in the NBA.  Unfortunately, the Memphis Grizzlies do not have enough offense to match Kevin Durant.  Our simulation has the Thunder winning in 6 games.

Game 1

The Thunder played great defense in this game, holding the Grizzlies to just 38% shooting. Memphis did themselves no favors by going 23-32 from the foul line, when the Thunder were 31-34.

Russell Westbrook had a game high 29 points on 11-22 shooting. Kevin Durant scored 27 points on 8-11 shooting and hit 10 free throws. Durant also had 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Serge Ibaka led OKC defensively with his 3 steals and 4 blocked shots.

Marc Gasol led the Grizzlies in scoring with 20 points and he added 9 rebounds and 3 steals. Zach Randolph struggled offensively as eh was 3-9 from the field and he finished with 8 points and 10 rebounds.

Series is tied 1-1


The Grizzlies shot 51% from the field and dominated the paint as they outscored the Thunder 44-28 down low.

Marc Gasol had another good night with 22 points and 9 rebounds. Both Mike Conley and Mike Miller scored 18 points. Conley also had 8 assists. Mike Miller scored his 18 off the bench and he was 6-6 from the field and hit all five of his 3's. Miller also had 7 rebounds and 5 assists.

Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant provided most of the offense for the Thunder. Westbrook finished with 29 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Durant had 27 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Caron Butler had 16 points off the bench.

Memphis had six different players score in double figures to help lead the team to a 2-1 advantage in the series.

Mike Conley led the way with 21 points and 7 assists. Marc Gasol had 19 points and 8 rebounds, Zach Randolph finished with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks, and Mike Miller scored 14 points, as he hit four 3's. Tayshaun Prince (13) and Courtney Lee (10) were also in double figures.

Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant both struggled shooting the ball in game 3. They combined to shoot 17-43 from the field and 3-12 from behind the arch. Westbrook finished with 26 points to lead the Thunder but he also had 6 turnovers. Durant finished with 17 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists.

Series is tied 2-2


This was a close game all the way throughout and it came down to the Thunder having guys like Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant to lean on down the stretch. The Grizzlies almost had 8 players in double figures but nobody looked to take the big shot at the end of the game.

Durant and Westbrook bounced back from a poor shooting night to tie this series up at 2 game a piece. Westbrook scored 38 points on 13-22 shooting. He also hit four 3's and dished out 7 assists. Durant nearly matched Westbrook, with 37 points on 12-24 shooting. Durant also had 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Caron Butler was big off the bench with 21 points and he hit 5-6 from behind the arch. Serge Ibaka didn't need to score, so he pulled down 12 rebounds and blocked 4 shots.

Mike Conley led the Grizzlies with 24 points on 10-13 shooting and he knocked down three 3's. Courntey Lee (18), Zach Randolph (15), Marc Gasol (13), Kosta Koufos (10), Mike Miller (10) and Tony Allen (10) all finished in double digits. Tayshaun Prince almost was the 8th member of the team to finish in double digits as he scored 9 points.

Oklahoma City had a great night shooting the ball as they shot 53% from the field, 57% from behind the arch and were 24/25 from the foul line.

The Thunder might have a new big three with the addition of Caron Butler. Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and Butler combined to score 87 points on 34-61 shooting. They also hit 12-21 from behind the arch and all 17 of their free throws. Serge Ibaka grabbed 14 boards and Derek Fisher added 11 points off the bench.

Tayshaun Prince had a team high 22 points for the Grizzlies. Zach Randolph added 20 points and Courtney Lee scored 10 points off the bench. No other players for Memphis finished in double figures.

Game 6

Thunder win series 4-2


Thanks to some sloppy play from the Grizzlies, the Thunder were able to win game 6 easily and advance to the Western Conference Semis. Memphis turned the ball over 21 times, compared to just 8 for Oklahoma City.

Kevin Durant scored 33 points on 13-24 shooting to lead the Thunder to a game 6 victory. Caron Butler continues his hot shooting off the bench as he added 22 points on 7-11 shooting. Reggie Jackson scored 15 points, to go along with 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. Russell Westbrook had a rare poor performance as he scored just 13 points on 5-16 shooting.

Zach Randolph posted his first double-double of the series with 23 points and 14 rebounds. Courtney Lee hit three 3's off the bench as he finished with 13 points. Mike Conley had a double-double with 13 points and 10 assists.
