NBA Playoffs Simulation - Dallas Mavericks vs San Antonio Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs just continue to play their own style of basketball and the NBA has yet to figure out how to stop it. The Original Big 3 is back at it for one more (last?) championship.  If Dirk Nowitzki and Monta Ellis plan on stopping them, well good luck.  Our simulation has the Spurs winning in 6 games.

Spurs lead series 1-0

This game was over at halftime as the Spurs had a slim two point lead after the 1st quarter, but blew it open in the 2nd. After outscoring the Mavericks 38-17 in the 2nd quarter, the Spurs took a 64-41 halftime lead. Dallas was never able to recover.

We saw a vintage Tony Parker and Tim Duncan as they dominated this game. Duncan was 11-17 from the field, and finished with a game high 31 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 blocked shots. Tony Parker also had a double-double with 25 points and 12 assists. Both Marco Belinelli and Manu Ginobili had 12 points off the bench.

Dirk Nowitzki played very well, scoring 26 points on 8-16 shooting. Monta Ellis finished with 23 points but struggled shooting the ball, hitting just 6 of his 17 attempts from the field. Samuel Dalembert filled the stat sheet with his 7 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 blocks.

Game 2

Mavericks 107
Spurs 95

Series is tied 1-1

The spark the Mavericks got from their bench is the reason they aren't down 2-0 in this series. The Mavericks bench outscored San Antonio's 50-23.

Despite shooting 5-22, Monta Ellis led the Mavericks with 19 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists. Vince Carter, Brandan Wright and Jae Crowder were the catalysts off the bench for Dallas. Carter was 5-7 from the field and finished with 16 points. Wright scored 10 points and Crowder only took 3 shots but they were all from behind the arch and he hit them all. Jose Calderon had a good game with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists.

Tony Parker had a game high 27 points to go along with his 5 rebounds and 6 assists. However Parker was uncharacteristically sloppy with the ball and turned it over 7 times. Tiago Splitter had a big game with 21 points, 13 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. Tim Duncan scored 12 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and blocked 4 shots.
