Giants Place Matt Cain On DL

The Giants have placed SP Matt Cain on the disabled list with a cut on his right index finger.

Matt Cain is 0-3 so far this year with a 4.35 ERA. From 2009-2012, Cain was 55-35 with a sub 3.00 ERA. Since the start of last season Cain is 8-13 with an ERA above 4.00.

At the age of 29 it's hard to imagine Cain is already breaking down but he does have 9 years in the majors under his belt already. Hopefully for the Giants sake, Cain will benefit from being sidelined for a few weeks.

Jake Dunning will be called up to the big leagues to fill Cain's roster spot. Yusmeiro Petit will likely take Cain's spot in the starting rotation for San Francisco.
