The Houston Astros have added baseball's top 1B prospect, Jon Singleton, to their MLB roster.  Singleton ranked 4th in our Top AAA Hitters rankings through May, and joins fellow superstar prospect George Springer in Houston.  The Astros have also signed Singleton to a 5 year deal, the 1st time in Major League history that a player got a contract extension before playing a single game in the Bigs.

Jesus Guzman, Marc Krauss and Chris Carter had been rotating at 1B and the DH but Singleton should see regular at bats as all 3 are hitting below .210. With Springer and now Singleton at the Major League level, all that Astros fans are waiting for are SS Carlos Correa, and P Mark Appel.

Baseball America ranked Singleton as the 57th best prospect in baseball before the season, saying he "has middle-of-the-order potential" in their 2014 Prospect Handbook. The Astros acquired the first baseman from the Phillies in the Hunter Pence trade a few years ago. - CBS Sports
