There's always a first. A first kiss, a first car, a first time champion of both the Players and the U.S. Open in the same year. Martin Kaymer went wire-to-wire to win the 2014 U.S. Open last weekend at Pinehurst #2, blowing away the field by eight strokes. Bonus points if you correctly guessed that first person would be German and not a man named Tiger Woods. In that same line of firsts, and, not nearly on the same level of significance, is the first post here on We Talk Fantasy Sports about fantasy golf.

"Wait, what?" is what my friends said when I told them I played fantasy golf, their disbelief was almost accusatory, like I had just admitted to kicking their cat. When WTFS asked me if I'd like to write about it, I jumped at the chance. I would be a great spreader of the gospel of golf fantasy, or, at least, that guy you maybe got that one tip from that one time that got you the win one week. I'll settle for the latter.

In case anyone couldn't tell, I'm not about to prattle on only about par breaker percentage and course history, though you'll certainly find that here. What you'll get here is entertainment along with (hopefully) some insight into the next week. Analysis can be had anywhere, and like most fantasy sports, by the end of the weekend, some of it will be wrong. Here, though, you'll find everything you need to get the edge in your work pool or to stick it to some guy on the internet who made fun of your username.

Check back daily for tips, analysis, terrible jokes and summary of the weekend's victories and calamities.
