Arizona Cardinals Fantasy Football Outlook

When you think about fantasy football and the Arizona Cardinals, the only guy that comes to mind is Larry Fitzgerald. However the lack of quality quarterback play the past few seasons has been a big reason why Fitzgerald's stock has dropped.  He has failed to reach 1,000 yards the past two years. In 2014, Andre Ellington is taking over as the teams starting running back and will be a quality RB2, with the upside of a low end RB1.  Andre Roberts has signed on with the Washington Redskins, and Michael Floyd is ready to build upon his 1,000 yard, 5 TD season.

Carson Palmer

Palmer had an interesting year last season, as he threw for a career high 4,274 yards but he also threw a career high 22 interceptions and just 24 touchdowns. Luckily for Palmer he has Larry Fitzgerald who will always give him a chance to complete a pass and third year receiver Michael Floyd who had a breakout season in 2013.  This year Andre Ellington will take over the running back duties which should help Carson Palmer and this offense because last year Rashard Mendenhall provided very little on the ground.  Ellingotn saw 57 targets in a limited role, the same as Palmer's TE Rob Housler.  Palmer will most likely go undrafted, but is a decent safety net should your QB get injured or struggle.  More valuable in PPR leagues.  We did not rank him in our QB rankings.

Andre Ellington

Ellington had an impressive rookie season, rushing for 652 yards and 3 touchdowns on 118 carries (5.5 avg). He also was active in the passing game, hauling in 39 catches for 371 yards. He will be a huge improvement over Rashard Mendenhall who averaged 3.2 yards per carry on 217 attempts. Ellington's breakout game was against the Atlanta Falcons in week 8, in which he carried the ball 15 times for 154 yards and a touchdown.  More valuable in PPR leagues.  We ranked him 15th in our RB rankings.

Larry Fitzgerald

Fitzgerald had 5 straight seasons of 1,000+ yards from 2007-2011. In 2012 Fitzgerald only put up 798 yards and 4 touchdowns because the team bounced back and forth between 4 different quarterbacks. Last year with Carson Palmer, Fitzgerald caught 82 balls for 954 yards and 10 touchdowns. Another year under Carson Palmer will help their chemistry, and Andre Ellington as the teams running back will help as well. As long as he stays healthy, you can mark him down for 80 catches, 1,000 yards and 9 touchdowns.  Equally valuable in all league formats.  We ranked him 14th in our WR rankings.

Michael Floyd

Floyd should be on a lot of peoples radar for 2014. This guy is poised for another 1,000 yard season playing alongside Fitzgerald.  In his second season in the NFL, he put up 65 catches for 1,041 yards (16 avg) and 5 scores.  He's a playmaker and should continue to impress this year. In week 10, against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Floyd caught 6 balls for 193 yards, including a 91 yard touchdown.  More valuable in Non-PPR leagues.  We ranked him 32nd in our WR rankings.
