The Arizona Diamondbacks have placed first baseman Paul Goldschmidt on the 15-day DL. Goldschmidt was given the day off on Friday night, but was used as a pinch hitter and was hit by a Ernesto Frieri fastball on the left hand. A MRI revealed that Goldschmidt broke his left hand and will now miss a significant amount of time. Jordan Pacheco will likely take over first base while Goldschmidt is out.  The D'Backs traded Martin Prado to the Yankees, and will have to rely on a struggling Mark Trumbo to power their offense.
