Yesterday we looked at the first 3 rounds of our 20 team fantasy football draft. Today we breakdown the final rounds and highlight some of Automated Insights Draft Report Cards.

Round 4

The 4th round started with two TEs in Greg Olsen and Jordan Cameron, and also saw Jason Witten selected with the 69th pick overall.  Ben Tate and MJD were the only RBs selected.  Natron Means Biznez drafted 3 WRs in a row after Andre Ellington in the 1st, and Fatty Fall Down followed suit after drafted Matt Forte in the 1st.  Nick Foles, Philip Rivers, and RG3 made the QB total jump to 13, leaving just 7 teams without a QB through 80 picks.

Ruond 5

Even with his early season suspension, Ray Rice was selected 81st overall to begin the 5th.  Do I smell desperation?  Rookies Bishop Sankey and Kelvin Benjamin were added here, after Brandin Cooks went near the end of the 4th round.  In a 20 team league, you have to take risks, but Cooks went 4 picks ahead of Kendall Wright!  Wright, Reggie Wayne, DeAndre Hopkins and Benjamin were the only WRs drafted in this round.  The Seattle Seahawks defense was selected 98th overall.  5 more quarterbacks were drafted, including Blue Dragons taking Andy Dalton and pairing him up with A.J. Green and Clayton picking Russell Wilson after Percy Harvin in the 3rd, leaving just 2 teams without one.

Round 6

Pen's Island could have drafted rookie WRs with back to back picks to start the 6th round, but instead of Sammy Watkins, choose Mark Ingram.  2 big time sleepers were added with picks 104 and 105 in Justin Hunter and Travis Kelce.  Boy Named Suh and Roto Rankers drafted Lamar Miller and Knowshon Moreno just 3 picks apart from each other, and one of them should be rewarded...unless of course, you know, Dolphins.  Carson Palmer and Josh McCown were selected with picks 112 & 113, giving all teams a QB.  Molly's Business drafted a suspended player for a 2nd straight round, this time adding Wes Welker to his team.

Rounds 7-12

For insurance purposes, Molly selected Bernard Pierce to start the 7th.  Oddly enough, the New England Patriots were the 2nd defense selected, ahead of 6 others in the 7th.  Alex Smith was the first backup QB drafted by Blue Dragons, and I expect him to be one of the first players traded, should there be an QB injury this season.  I was surprised to see Cody Latimer fall all the way to 164, but with the news about the NFL possibly undoing the suspensions of Wes Welker and Josh Gordon, it seems like the right place for him.  Speaking of Gordon, he actually went undrafted due to the fact that at the time of the draft he was suspended for the season.  However, Miles Austin has since been dropped in his place.  "Johnny Cleveland" was selected 181st overall to start the 10th round and could be a very valuable pick towards the end of the season.  Same can be said for Kenny Stills who went next, Derek Carr at pick 185 and Ladarius Green after him.  The 10th round was a pretty good one in terms of value as Kenny Britt, Jake Locker and Tim Wright also were selected.  Nearly half the league took a kicker in the 12th, with Mercedes Lewis being the last player drafted and the Philadelphia Eagles defense being the final selection of the evening at pick 240!

Projections

Molly's Business had the 1st pick in the draft and with Peyton Manning as their QB is projected to go 11-2 and earn that #1 overall seed.  Tall midgets is projected to score 1,000+ points, yet because of a tough division, is projected to go 10-3 and be the 4 seed.  TDeny  is in said division and expected to go 0-8 against its rivals.  He and PetetopKevinbottom are projected to each finish 1-12, yikes!  10 teams are projected to win anywhere from 5-8 wins and with less than half the league projected to finish above .500, it should be another competitive 20 team fantasy football season!

Draft Report Cards

  • One Will Rise Up Like a Phoenix From the Ashes
    • Molly's Business is hoping that either Ray Rice or Bernard Pierce will emerge as a serious threat for the Baltimore Ravens.
  • A Versatile Combination
    • Shane Vereen can hurt opponents with his hands as well as his feet. He ranks first among RBs in projected receiving yards with 596.
  • A Low Floor, but a High Ceiling?
    • The Royal Tannehills nabbed a sleeper in Levine Toilolo with pick No. 225.
  • Like a Prancing Unicorn
    • Drew Brees is a fantasy dream. He's projected to finish second in the NFL in both passing TDs (37.9) and passing yards (5,129).
  • Loaded With Panthers, John's Standout Team is Built to Win
    • The GM of John's Standout Team must be an angel, because this team looks like it fell from heaven. They were able to flip the 20th overall pick into an expected finish of fifth place with a record of 9-4-0 (971 points).
  • Old Fashioned
    • Vaughn's Team stuck to the tried-and-true fantasy strategy of going RB-RB to start the draft, taking LeSean McCoy and Ryan Mathews before targeting other positions.
  • TDs Like a Boss
    • Although he ranks outside the top-20 in projected passing yards (21st with 3,953), Nick Foles is expected to land fifth in the NFL in TD passes with 30.2.
  • Better Lucky Than Good?
    • The rest of 20 Team League overlooked a gem, and Roto Rankers made the smartest value pick of the round by taking Matt Ryan.
  • Take One Play Off and He Burns You
    • Kenny Stills is a classic deep-ball weapon, ranking fourth among NFL WRs in percentage of receptions over 40 yards (6.2%).
  • Team of Champions?
    • Mustangs is fielding a team of fantasy MVPs. Last season, three of their players were among the top-20 players that were on the most championship rosters across all Yahoo! leagues: Eddie Lacy, Zac Stacy, and DeSean Jackson.
  • Imitation is the Sincerest Form of Flattery
    • Frank Gore will be trying to imitate Bo Jackson in Tecmo Bowl this season. He's expected to wind up seventh in the league with 8.7 rushing TDs.
  • Which Do You Want First, the Good News or the Bad?
    • Despite being an above-average player at his position, the selection of Aaron Rodgers had less value than any other pick of the round.
  • Super Sleepers
    • Lance Dunbar and Blake Bortles are a couple of late-round fliers with upside for clayton s's Team.
  • It's a Bold Strategy Cotton, Let's See if it Pays Off For 'Em
    • Jay Cutler has an ADP of only 92.2 across all Yahoo! leagues, and wasn't quite worth the 38th overall pick.
  • The First Step is Admitting You Have a Problem
    • It seems like KeithyP likes to gamble -- they rolled the dice on seven "high-risk" picks.
  • Close to the Vest
    • Das Komet was focused on a squad with minimal risk, grabbing five "low-risk" players out of 12 picks.
  • Feed Thy Beast
    • Toby Gerhart will get the ball early and often, projected to finish 10th in the league with 285 touches.
  • Show Some ID
    • Natrone Means Biznaz isn't afraid to rob the cradle, drafting the youngest team in the league with an average of just 1.9 years of NFL experience.
  • Basic Math is Optional
    • Michael Vick once claimed "I have two weapons; my arms, my legs and my brain.” With 664 projected rushing yards, Colin Kaepernick can channel his inner Vick to help TDeny this year.
  • Meeting His Expectations
    • Often the only WR taken in the first round in 2013, Megatron lived up to the billing and was owned on more playoff teams across Yahoo! than any other wideout.
