The Toronto Blue Jays and free agent Canadian catcher Russell Martin have agreed to a 5 year $82 mil contract.  WHOA!  Martin spent the last two seasons with Pittsburgh Pirates, where he hit .256 with 26 home runs and 122 RBI.  He returns home to Canada, and the American League East, where Martin spent 2 seasons with the New York Yankees, and belted 39 home runs in the hitter friendly parks.  He is a career .259 hitter, and an upgrade over Dioner Navarro , despite a career year last season.  The ability to DH should keep Martin healthy, and in the lineup more often.  He will now be hitting behind Edwin Encarnacion and Jose Bautista.

Francisco Cervelli replaces Martin in Pittsburgh.
