Another year, another injury for SG Eric Gordon of the New Orleans Pelicans.
Gordon was the 7th overall pick in 2008 NBA draft of the Los Angeles Clippers, and the centerpiece of the Chris Paul trade. He has not appeared in 70 games since his rookie season, and outside of the 9 games he played in his first season in New Orleans, has yet to average 20 points per game for the Hornets/Pelicans. Austin Rivers should jump into the Pelicans starting 5 and see a big increase in minutes, currently playing just 21 per game. Rivers is playing much better in his sophomore season, shooting 46.4% from the field on 5.8 shots per game. However, I think Tyreke Evans and Jrue Holiday get the bigger boost, as they will be able to split Gordon's 9 attempts per game as they are 2nd and 4th on the team in usage rate, respectively.
