The Houston Texans are benching QB Ryan Fitzpatrick in favor of Ryan Mallett. Mallett was drafted int he 3rd round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots, and sat behind Tom Brady for three seasons, before being traded to the Texans this year. He has 4 pass attempts in his NFL career, one 17 yard completion. This is going to have a huge effect on Arian Foster (if healthy), Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins fantasy value moving forward. Houston is on a BYE in Week 10.
Fitzpatrick has thrown 11 touchdowns and 8 interceptions this season, completing just 61.8% of his passes for 1960 yards. Andre Johnson leads the team in targets (82) and receptions (48) but its DeAndre Hopkins who leads the team in yards (684)and touchdowns (4). I would expect Mallett to rely more on his tight ends than Fitzy did, so hopefully this can give Garrett Graham a boost in fantasy value, but I would never start him until we saw back to back weeks of production. The backfield should see some more dump-offs as well. Foster is already 8th in the NFL in RB targets.
