It was a near sweep across all stats for Antonio Brown leading WRs in targets, receptions, and yards, but his 12 touchdowns could not top Dez Bryant (14) and Jordy Nelson (13).

For a 3rd season in a row, we have seen more WRs catch 10+ TDs.  In 2012 we had 9, 2013 saw 10 and this season we had 11 receivers catch double digit touchdowns.  A trend that should continue into next season and a reason why I plan on going WR heavy in my drafts next season.

Imagine what DeAndre Hopkins is capable of doing with a legit NFL QB.  He gained 1205 yards and scored 6 TDs with Ryan Fitzpatrick, Ryan Mallett, Case Keenum, and Tom Savage throwing him the football.

The level of talent that entered the NFL this season at the WR position was unbelievable.  Odell Beckham Jr., Mike Evans and Kelvin Benjamin all finished in the top 15, and are only going to get better and that doesn't even mention Sammy Watkins who battles injuries and E.J. Manuel/Kyle Orton to finish 27th.  And remember, Brandin Cooks played in just 10 games!  You also saw rookies Jordan Matthews and Jarvis Landry start to come on towards the end of the season, John Brown had some big games for the Cardinals and the Jaguars offense is littered in rookie talent.

Next season, we get to add Amari Cooper, DeVante Parker, Kevin White, Rashad Greene and maybe even some of the underclassmen like Jaelen Strong, Dorial Green-Beckham, Devin Funchess and Sammie Coates.

This is going to be a position of great depth, but make sure you draft at least 2 WRs in the first 4 rounds of your fantasy football draft next season!

For Next Year

  • Victor Cruz returns to the New York Football Giants and it is yet to be seen how he and Odell Beckham will coexist.
  • Jeremy Maclin could find himself on a new team next season as he enters free agency and I would not anticipate a repeat of this unbelievable season.  His pre-draft ranking will be a bit overvalued.
  • Demaryius Thomas and Dez Bryant will most likely be locked up this offseason and return to their respective teams.
  • Randall Cobb should find success regardless of what team signs him this offseason.  I think with Devante Adams on the roster, the Packers will look to spend money elsewhere.
  • Michael Crabtree will be wearing a new uniform next season and it could be the best thing for his career and us fantasy owners!
