Hockey teams lean on Goaltenders as much as any position in any sport. The star goalie for the Columbus Blue Jackets, Sergei Bobrovsky, has missed the last 13 games with a groin injury he suffered January 21st in Winnipeg and won't be in net when his team takes on Buffalo tonight in Columbus. The team has tread water since his absence going 6-7-1 keeping their playoff chances dim at best. But for those who own "BOB" in fantasy hockey, good news! His return is on the horizon. He has been participating in morning skates, increasing activity everyday and team officials say they wouldn't be surprised if Bobrovsky plays before this Sunday and Columbus has 4 games this week. So if you own him prepare to activate him or add him if he was dropped. He will see a heavy workload.
The rush to get New York Rangers netminder Henrik Lundqvist back is an interesting and cautious situation. He suffered a scary injury on Jan. 31, when he took a puck to the throat causing blood vessel damage. Henrik has been taking shots in practice but nothing high and above his chest. The Rangers are 2nd right now in a crowded Metropolitan Divison. They have a more than capable back up playing in Cam Talbot. Since "King Henrik's" injury Talbot has 6-1-2 record, but has struggled some in Lundqvist absence, New York's defense being a big culprit. Although the Rangers would love their superstar back, they have a 7-1-2 record in their last 10 games and look to make it three in a row tonight on home ice vs Calgary. Henrik has no timetable for a return, only when he feels he's comfortable. In the meantime look for Cam Talbot to carry the team and safely man a roster spot on your fantasy team if you need goaltending.
