The Chicago Bears have agreed to trade Brandon Marshall to the New York Jets for a 5th round draft pick. Marshall joins Eric Decker, Jeremy Kerley and maybe Percy Harvin in the Jets receiving corp. With Jace Amaro and Jeff Cumberland at the TE position, Geno Smith/Marcus Mariota/Nick Foles will have plenty of weapons next season!
Marshall will turn 31 at the end of this month and this will be his 4th team and his 10th NFL season. This will be the 3rd time has been traded.
With Rex Ryan out and Todd Bowles in, who knows how the Jets will operate on offense. But having better players on your team makes the transition easier.
Marshall suffered a collapsed lung, ending his season early in 2014. He also was battling an ankle injury all season, leading to 61 receptions and 721 yards, both his lowest totals since his rookie season. He had played in 16 games for 3 straight seasons, after missing just 5 games over his first 5 NFL seasons.
Marshall posted 7 straight 1,000 yard seasons prior and was coming off of back to back double digit touchdowns. Marshall was already falling down fantasy football draft boards, but a move to Gang Green could move him further down WR rankings. Will be a good WR2 option in 2015.
Alshon Jeffery is now the man in Chicago and as long as Jay Cuter is still around, he will see an increase in his 145 targets from last season (150 in 2013). Could be close to the 193 Marshall saw in his first season with the Bears. Marquess Wilson should see an increased role next season.
