The Boston Red Sox will begin their 2015 MLB season with Rusney Castillo at AAA Pawtucket.  Castillo was signed to a 7 year $72.5mil deal last August out of Cuba.  This is good news for fantasy baseball owners who were waiting to see how the crowded Red Sox outfield would play out, but bad news for those owners who spent a mid round pick on the outfielder in their drafts.  Boston will have Hanley Ramirez, Mookie Betts and Shane Victorino in their outfield, when they open up against the Phillies on the road in an interleague series.

With no DH to start the year,  it will be interesting to see if David Ortiz plays first base over Mike Napoli and if Allen Craig gets any pinch hit opportunities.  Boston plays just 7 more interleague games on the road, including 3 at the end of August against the Mets.

Castillo was projected for anywhere between 400-500 ABs this season, so as long as he ends up playing 110-120 games, fantasy owners should not worry.  You can expect 10-14 home runs and 20 doubles with 50 runs & 50 RBI if he lies up to expectations this year.  He hit .310 during Spring Training in 29 ABs with 2 home runs.  Keep him on your roster!

Jackie Bradley Jr. was also sent down to the minors.  Boston will be without catcher Christian Vasquez this year, after Tommy John surgery.  Ryan Hanigan will take over behind the plate.
