The Oakland Athletics have placed Ben Zobrist on the DL with a medial meniscus tear. Zobrist was hitting .240 in his first season with the A's, with 1 home run and 8 RBI. The team will bring up Max Muncy from Triple-A Nashville.

No word on the timetable for Zobrist. He tried to play through the injury but the team is playing it safe by placing him on the DL. There is still a chance the injury requires arthroscopic surgery.

This is a pretty big blow to the A's offense who currently are ranked third in runs scored with 87. They'll need guys like Billy Butler, Stephen Vogt, and Ike Davis to continue hitting and Brett Lawrie will need his bat to get hot. Oakland Athletics Logo
