The Houston Astros will be without their shortstop Jed Lowrie until after the all-star break, as he will undergo surgery to repair a ligament tear in his right thumb.

Lowrie is a big reason the Houston Astros are 12-7 and sit atop the AL West. He was hitting .300 with 4 home runs and 10 RBI. In his absence Marwin Gonzalez and Jonathan Villar will handle the shortstop duties.
