The NBA offseason is officially underway! Well, not really, but the Milwaukee Bucks have traded Ersan Ilyasova to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for Caron Butler and Shawne Williams. Butler returns to the Bucks, where he was traded during the 2013-14 NBA season, before being waived and signed on with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
It was just last summer that people were saying Ersan Ilyasova was untradable because of the contract he signed in July 2012, for 5 years and $45 mil. Ilyasova was coming off a season in which he scored 13 points per game on 49% shooting, including 45% from beyond the arc and averaged 8.8 rebounds.
Ersan Ilyasova got 5 years and $40 million, with only 4 years and $32 million guaranteed. $7.9 mil flat, then $400k of $8.4 mil in 2016-17.— Mark Deeks (@MarkDeeksNBA) July 16, 2012

Now 28 years old, Ilyasova has played in just 113 games for the Bucks over the last two seasons and started just 83 of them. Last season under Jason Kidd, Ilyasova started just 36 games and averaged 22 minutes in 58 games played
