The Texas Rangers acquired Yovani Gallardo in a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers this winter.  I'm not sure even the Rangers were expecting Gallardo to be THIS good.

In his first 15 American Leagues starts, Gallardo's ERA sits just under 3.00 with a 1.21 WHIP.  He has pitched better and better with each start, and in the month of June, Gallardo owns a 0.72 ERA across 4 starts (25 IP) with 21 strikeouts.  He has 7 starts at home and opponents are hitting just .216 off him.

I had just updated the Top 50 Pitchers based on some deep pitching metrics and the list featured Gallardo as the 29th best pitcher in fantasy baseball!  Twice this season he has pitched a quality start, but took a loss and twice the bullpen has blown a win for him!

The Rangers are currently 4 games over .500, 3.5 games behind the Houston Astros in the AL West.  This without Yu Darvish.  Gallardo hasn't had much help in the rotation outside of Nick Martinez (11 QS 2.77 ERA) and Wandy Rodriguez (3.20 ERA).  But Prince Fielder, 11 HRs 47 RBI, has led the offense to the 7th most runs in the MLB,  Mitch Moreland is having a solid month of June and the power of Joey Gallo has also added to the Rangers success.
