The Houston Texans may have to start the season without RB Arian Foster, after he suffered a groin injury at practice. Foster has been injury prone his entire career, He missed 3 games last season after missing 8 games in 2013. He has only scored 9 rushing touchdowns since scoring 15 in 2012, his 3rd consecutive 10+ TD season. I wouldn't go near Foster in the 1st or 2nd round of fantasy football drafts taking place in the next week or so. If news comes out that he can avoid surgery and will not miss the start of the season, I would spend a 2nd round pick on him if I had drafted a WR in the 1st.
Arian Foster's groin injury is serious in nature. Source said it should require surgery & may be candidate for IR w/ designation for return. - @JaysonBraddock
Should Foster actually miss the early part of the season, Alfred Blue could be the man. Blue gained 528 rushing yards as a rookie last season, but averaged just 3.1 yards per carry and scored two touchdowns. That includes a game in which he rushed for 156 yards on 36 carries against the Cleveland Browns in Week 11.
The Texans added Chris Polk who could put a wrinkle in things.
With Brian Hoyer at QB, the loss of Andre Johnson and being without Foster, the Texans might be a team you want to avoid in fantasy football, at least to start the season. DeAndre Hopkins will see a ton of targets, but might be double and triple teamed regularly. Draft Hopkins with confidence, but do not reach for him.
