Dexter Fowler Cubs Baseball's Best Leadoff Hitter

Having a reliable leadoff hitter is important once a game. But these guys also get the most opportunities at the plate so you better make sure that guy can hit in any situation, as well as being a spark plug in the 1st inning. Every team has a different approach with their leadoff hitter.  Some managers just slot their fastest player at the top of their lineup, while other managers make sure whoever is leading off, has a high on base percentage.

Dexter Fowler may only be hitting .254 on the year, but his .350 OBP has led to 80 runs scored!  That is good for 5th best in the MLB.  His 65 walks is good for 9th.  He has seen just 12 ABs outside of the leadoff spot in the Chicago Cubs batting order.

Fowler has been hot since the All-Star break, and totaled 161 fantasy points, good for 10th best in the MLB.  He is hittin g.316 with 16 XBH and 29 base on balls which has led to 26 runs scored!

Curtis Granderson also has 161 2nd half fantasy points, helping the New York Mets take first place in the National League East over the Washington Nationals.  Granderson has hit 9 home runs since the break and picked up 23 RBI.  He is one of 13 players to score 20 runs and drive in 20 runs post All-Star.  The Mets have been running Juan Lagares out of the leadoff spot against lefties lately, sliding Granderson down a spot..
