2016 NFL Preseason Week 1 DFS Advice

How fun is this?!  Fourth String Points Matter!  Thanks to DraftKings, we have Week 1 NFL Preseason DFS.

It's going to be hard to pick between Scott Tolzien and Brett Hundley prior to kickoff in the Green Bay Packers-New England Patriots game, but Aaron Rodgers isn't going to play more than a series or two, if he play sat all.

It's nights like tonight that Theo Riddick of the Detroit Lions and Cole Beasley of the Dallas Cowboys get to remind NFL fans they are professional football players.

Quarterbacks

Jimmy Garoppolo is expected to play most of the game for the Patriots, with Tom Brady expected to sit this one out.  He will probably be the most roistered player at the QB position and for good reason.  But sometimes it is fun do the exact opposite of what's expected.

Browns Johnny Manziel could be an internet sensation tonight if he puts up numbers.

Kirk Cousins is a good option as the Redskins still plan on starting Robert Griffin at QB this year.  Colt McCoy will interfere with his production though.

Garrett Grayson, the Saints 3rd round pick out of Colorado State, could be the name everyone is talking about tonight on Twitter and tomorrow at the water coolers.

Jets fans will be watching Bryce Petty closely tonight, but one would have to assume that Ryan Fitzpatrick gets enough reps as he takes over for Geno Smith.

Former NFL starters Matt Schaub (Ravens), Matt Moore (Dolphins),Jimmy Clausen (Bears), Brandon Weeden (Cowboys) and Kellen Clemens (Chargers) will all be looking to remind everyone that they are still getting paid.

Running Backs

So many great options at the RB position as teams continue to stash backs and go with a committee backfield.

The Lions should feature Ameer Abdullah and Theo Riddick tonight, with Joique Bell nursing an injury.  Bell is expected to play.

The Jets have former starters in Stevan Ridley and Zac Stacy waiting for some touches tonight.

Lorenzo Taliaferro was a monster last preseason, but gave way to Justin Forsett last season.  He will look to earn back some regular season snaps tonight.

We will finally get to see C.J. Spiller, in limited action, tonight in a Saints uniform.  I like Khiry Robinson as the top Saints back tonight.

With all the hype around LeGarrette Blount this summer, the Patriots will remind everyone that they have  handful of good backs, in Jonas Gray and James White.

The Packers James Starks could see a bunch of touches tonight.

Ka'Deem Carey was a beast in college at Arizona.  If you forgot the Bears drafted him last season, he will remind you tonight!  Jacquizz Rodgers wears a Bears uniform these days.

The Dolphins backfield is a bit crowded with Damien Williams, rookie Jay Ayaji and LaMichael James.

All the backs on the Redskins roster and rookie Matt Jones is the one to watch tonight!  He will go up against the Browns rookie Duke Johnson.

The Chargers are deep at RB, with rookie Melvin Gordon making his NFL debut, and veterans Danny Woodhead and Donald Brown looking to steal some regular season snaps.  Behind them they have Branden Oliver who help fantasy owners win some weeks last season.

The Cowboys will roll out multiple RBs tonight too, with Darren McFadden and Lance Dunbar looking to earn some regular season snaps.  Joseph Randle may not play tonight after an injury limited him in practice this week.

Wide Receivers

Much like we have been preaching for fantasy football, the WR position is deep even in the NFL preseason.

Aaron Rodgers isn't going to be throwing them the football but the Packers DeVante Adams and rookie Ty Montgomery could see a bunch of targets tonight.

I am already a fan of Kamar Aiken, and if Marlon Brown does not play tonight, Aiken could go off.  Who knows how many snaps the Ravens give rookie Breshad Perriman.

Tonight is an important night for Nick Toon and Joe Morgan as the fight for the WR3 on the Saints depth chart.

The Lions and Jets have a bunch of mouths to feed at WR as they try and find their 3rd and 4th receivers, so I would stay away from that game.

For the Bears, Marquess Wilson will attempt to get into the regular season rotation with rookie Kevin White (out) and veteran Eddie Royal.

The Browns will feature veterans Dwayne Bowe and Brian Hartline in the regular season, but Travis Benjamin and Taylor Gabriel could fill the stat sheet tonight.  No Terrelle Pryor.

Cole Beasley has to be in your lineup!

Tight Ends

If for some reason you decide to play anyone other than Maxx Williams at TE tonight, try these guys:
