The San Diego Chargers season is over at 2-6 but Philip Rivers and Keenan Allen are having great seasons. Well that's all over, as Allen underwent a kidney procedure that will sideline him for the season. Allen was already expected to "miss some time" according to HC Mike McCoy, and after their Week 10 BYE, we were hoping for Allen to return. Looks like that won't be happening.
Rivers has targeted Allen a team high 89 times this season and turned 8 of them into catches of 20 or more yards. Malcom Floyd (7 plays of 20+) is the next receiver, 3rd on team, with 40 targets. RB Danny Woodhead (5 20+) has 49 targets. Steve Johnson (5 20+) was just 3 targets shy of Floyd so expect both of the veteran receivers to see a big increase in targets. Dontrelle Inman will have the occasional big game as well. TEs Antonio Gates and Ladarius Green should see an uptick in production as well as Woodhead.
