The Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Angels have agreed to a trade that will send shortstop Andrelton Simmons to the Angels. In return the Braves will receive Erick Aybar and minor league pitchers Sean Newcomb and Chris Ellis.
Both Simmons and Aybar will take over as the starting shortstops for their new teams.
Atlanta might have struck gold in this deal with Sean Newcomb. He's a 6'5 lefty, who was ranked as the #25 prospect in baseball by ESPN Insider Keith Law. The 22 year old went 9-3 last season in A and AA ball, with a 2.38 ERA and 168 strikeouts in 136 innings.
