The Houston Astros have acquired closer Ken Giles via trade with the Philadelphia Phillies. Vincent Velasquez and Brett Oberholtzer are at the center of the deal.  Luke Gregerson led Houston with 31 saves last season.  Giles saved 15 games for Philly, after they traded Jonathan Papelbon to the Washington Nationals at the end of July.

With most of his appearances coming at home, Giles managed to limit opposing hitters to just one home run at Citizens Bank ballpark after the All-Star break, an impressive feat which led to a 4.8% HR/FB.  Minute Maid Park plays much like CBP, as a top 10 HR park in the MLB.

The Astros already featured the 6th best bullpen ERA in the MLB and get a huge upgrade in Giles. Tony Sipp and Will Harris finished with ERA's under 2.00!  Josh Fields finished with a K/9 near 12.  Chad Qualls is gone after signing with the Colorado Rockies, so that's good.  Cy Young Award winner Dallas Keuchel, Collin McHugh, Mike Fiers, Lance McCullers and Scott Feldman are loving this deal.
