The start of the 2016 MLB season is less than two weeks away, and the Los Angeles Dodgers have just learned that their starting left fielder, Andre Ethier will miss at least the first two months of the year. Ethier will miss 10-14 weeks due to a fractured right tibia.
After a down year in 2014, Ethier had a bounce back season in 2015. Last season Ethier hit .294 (his best since 2008), with 20 doubles, 7 triples, 14 home runs and drove in 53 runs.
With Ethier to start the year on the DL, Trayce Thompson will likely make the Dodgers opening day roster and should see some time in left field. However guys like Carl Crawford, Enrique Hernandez, Scott Van Slyke and Alex Guerrero will also be in the mix for some playing time - in other words, none of these guys are worth running to the waiver wire for or using a late round draft pick on.
