It's early May, the NFL Draft is over, and the ESPN Fantasy Football Rankings Summit has just concluded. NFL franchises are working on signing their draft selections to rookie contracts and mock draft lobbies are officially open. Although football season is still months away, there is an early buzz of excitement for those most passionate about Fantasy Football. A Spring fever, if you will. What better time to compile my early positional rankings, using ESPN 10 team standard scoring. Much will change between now and August, but here's what I think as of right now.

Quarterback is deep this year, so in most of my leagues I will be waiting on QB. We all know that circumstances can change during a draft, so you must also have a backup plan. If I don't wait on QB, it will most likely be because Aaron Rodgers falls to me in the 3rd or 4th round. I am high on Rodgers this year. If I take a QB before round 7 it will be either Rodgers or Brady.

I love Cam Newton, he lead me to a Fantasy Championship last year, but his draft price will be too rich for my blood this year. Plus, I don't think he will have as good of a season as he had last year. Rodgers will have Jordy Nelson back, so I think that he will have a much better season in 2016 than last year. If you're going to take an elite QB, Rodgers will have better draft value than Cam.

I know what you're thinking, Tom Brady at number 5 with a 4 game suspension? Yes, I believe Tom Terrific has a great chance of being the number 1 QB from week 5 on. If Brady was not suspended he would be my number 2 QB. If you add in replacement level QB for the first 4 weeks without Brady, you will still have at minimum a top 5 QB for the season. There are several late round QB's with a great schedule for the first 4 games that you can plug in while you are without the services of Brady. Draft Tom Brady in rounds 6-8 then take a Cousins, Carr, or Flacco and thank me later.

I believe Eli Manning has top 5 QB potential this year as well. The Giants took WR Sterling Shepard out of Oklahoma in the second round of this year's draft. Shepard, along with the potential return of a healthy Victor Cruz and superstar Odell Beckham Jr., give Manning an arsenal of weapons to throw to. This will also be Eli's 3rd year in the Ben McAdoo offense so I believe big things are in store for him.

Some other late round fliers I would take a chance on are Kirk Cousins, Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota, and Joe Flacco. Cousins could crack the top 10 this year after his strong finish to last year. New weapon Josh Doctson at WR will help Cousins succeed.

Winston should be comfortable with all of his weapons returning for his second year in the league. Mariota should have a strong run game to bring balance to the Titan's offense, as well as few more designed runs for him. Flacco might actually have a deep threat now.

The Ravens drafted Breshad Perriman in the first round last year, signed Mike Wallace in free agency, and added one of the most explosive receivers in college in Chris Moore out of Cincinnati. Flacco can't complain about not having a deep threat this year as long as everyone stays healthy.
