The Los Angeles Dodgers have purchased the contract of their top pitching prospect - Julio Urias. Urias will make his MLB debut on the mound at Citi Field against the New York Mets, opposing Jacob deGrom. He is just 19 years old and wont turn 20 until August.
Urias ranked 7th in our AAA Starting Pitching rankings posted earlier this week. He has not allowed an earned run in his last five appearances, dating back to April 22nd.
Julio has 44 strikeouts to just eight walks in 41 innings, leading to a 1.10 ERA and 0.78 WHIP.
Urias is the top LHP prospect, according to MLB Pipeline, ahead of the Rays Blake Snell and Braves Sean Newcomb.
The best left-handed pitching prospect in the game, Urias possesses plus or better stuff across the board. He can throw his lively fastball, which parks at 91-94 mph and reaches 97, for strikes on both sides of the plate. There's also some deception with Urias' heater, and opponents can't sit on it because he has such good feel for his big-breaking curveball and fading changeup. .
