Coby Fleener

Coming out of Stanford and being drafted in the second round of the NFL draft by the Indianapolis Colts, Coby Fleener has been shown signs of being a very good tight end in this league. In his last three seasons with the Colts, Fleener averaged 52 receptions, and 624 yards with 15 total touchdowns.

Despite playing all 16 games last season, Fleener had less than 500 receiving yards, but with Matt Hasselbeck quarterbacking the Colts in half those games, he gets a pass.

Fleener also had to compete with Dwayne Allen for receptions who was drafted just a round later than him in 2012.

There were three games last year that Allen did not play in, that left Fleener as the primary tight end. In those three games, Fleener put up top tight end numbers. He averaged nearly 7 receptions and 73 yards, while scoring in two games.

Fleener signed a 5-year deal with the Saints this offseason, and he will be playing with Drew Brees who absolutely loves tight ends. Jimmy Graham caught 51 touchdowns in his five years playing with Drew Brees, before going to Seattle and being a major dissapointment before his injury.

35-year old Ben Watson was the Saints primary tight end last season and he had a great season - 74 receptions, 825 yards and six touchdowns. Those are all career highs for Watson, who is a 13 year veteran.

Ladarius Green

For his first four seasons in the NFL, Ladarius Green has been overshadowed by future hall of famer Antonio Gates in San Diego.

There were four games last season that Gates did not play in and Green was given the start. In those four games, Green was very productive. Combined he caught 18 passes, for 219 yards and scored a touchdown in three of those games.

At 6'6, 240 lbs, Green is a play maker and was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers to take over for the reliable Heath Miller.

Heath Miller was never a big play maker for Pittsburgh, as he was more of a third down target and short yardage guy. Miller only had 70+ catches twice in his career and only had 800 receiving yards once. A lot of this has to do with the fact that Ben Roethlisberger loves his wide receivers and running backs. It's hard to blame him as he has guys like Le'Veon Bell and Antonio Brown.

Hopefully in his first chance to be a primary tight end, Green will give Big Ben a reason to throw to his tight end early and often.

Pittsburgh will be without wide receiver Martavis Bryant, which hopefully willl lead to more opportunities for Green.
