The Boston Red Sox have acquired All-Star pitcher Drew Pomeranz from the San Diego Padres. In return, the Padres will get 18-year old pitching prospect Anderson Espinoza.
Well the Red Sox have made two trades in the past week, first acquiring closer Brad Ziegler after Craig Kimbrel went down with an injury..
Pomeranz will join a rotation of David Price, Rick Porcello, Steven Wright and Eduardo Rodriguez.
On the year, Pomeranz is 8-7 with a 2.47 ERA and 1.06 WHIP. He has struck out 115 batters in 102 innings.
Anderson Espinoza is just 18 years old and is the 15th ranked prospect in all of baseball. He is 5-10 in his short minor league career with a 3.01 ERA and 137 strike outs in 134.1 innings.

Drew Pomeranz has finally pitched 100 innings for the first time in his career, and has been lights out for the Padres. Despite being one of 12 qualified starters with a 10+ K/9, his BB% is one of the 10 worst. He will most likely be traded, and could wind up in a not so pitcher friendly ballpark, which could spoil an amazing run. If you own him, look to sell high!
