The Texas Rangers and Milwaukee Brewers have agreed to a trade, that will send catcher Jonathan Lucroy and relief pitcher Jeremy Jeffress to the Rangers in exchange for minor league prospects Lewis Brinson and Luis Ortiz.
This is a big trade for both teams as Rangers are in win now mode and the Brewers get some bright pieces for the future.
Lucroy is one of the top hitting catchers in the league, hitting .299 with 13 home runs and 50 RBI. A huge upgrade over Bobby Wilson and Robinson Chirinos.
Jeffress was lights out as the Brewers closer, saving 27 games in 28 chances. He has put up a 2.22 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP in 44.2 innings, while allowing just two home runs.
Lewis Brinson, a 22-year old center fielder was hitting .237 in the minors this year, with 15 doubles, six triples, 11 home runs and 41 RBI with 13 stolen bases.
Luis Ortiz, a 20-year old pitcher has a 3.48 ERA in the minors this year and has struck out 62 batters in 67.1 innings.
