The San Francisco 49ers will fly to Buffalo to face the Bills in NFL week 6 action and have announced that Colin Kaepernick will be their starting QB. Blaine Gabbert has completed 58% of his passes, with 6 interceptions to just 5 touchdowns. Gabbert threw for 200+ yards in week 2 against the Carolina Panthers, but failed to do so in the teams four other games. San Fran is 1-4 to start the season, in their first year under head coach Chip Kelly.
Kaepernick's last starts was November 1st, 2015 against the St. Louis Rams. He completed just 20 of 41 pass attempts for 162 yards. Kaepernick completed 59% of his passes in 2015, with six touchdowns and five interceptions in 8 starts.
The Bills are rolling right now and could really limit Kaepernick's ability to succeed in his return as the teams starting quarterback. That being said, Chip Kelly's offense seems to be a perfect fit for his skill set. We will find out on Sunday!
Jeremy Kerley currently leads the 49ers in targets, receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns. It will be interesting to see if Kaepernick's style of play gets Torrey Smith and Quinton Patton more involved.
