Fantasy Football Playoff Heroes

For many of us who survived to play one more week, Monday Night Football determined our fantasy football fate.  The Washington Redskins WRs, Jonathan Stewart, Greg Olsen - they all played their role and could have led your team to one more matchup.

But what about the rest of the league, which players helped out their fantasy owners the most, with top 12 finishes at QB/TE, top 24 RB and top 36 WR in week 14 and week 15.

Using FFToday.com, we looked at the top performers in PPR the last two weeks and if they made both lists, we added their stats together.  These are not necessarily the "best" players in the playoffs.

Matt Ryan35515235046.1

Matt Ryan benefited from playing the Los Angeles Rams in week 14 and the San Francisco 49ers this weekend.  They scored 83 points, 40+ in both, and did so without Julio Jones in uniform!  Ryan hooked up with Justin Hardy in week 14, Taylor Gabriel for a touchdown in each game, found Tevin Coleman out of the backfield against the Rams while connecting with his rookie TE, Austin Hooper, for a week 15 score.

Bilal Powell just had his best two weeks of of the season and they could not have come at a better time. He rushed for 145 yards against the 49ers, his only game of 100+ yards, and scored two rushing TDs.  He added 34 yards on 5 receptions.  This past Saturday, he caught 11 of his 12 targets against the Miami Dolphins and totaled 162 yards.

The Green Bay Packers have struggled to run the ball this year.  This is made clearly eveident by the fact that Aaron Ripkowski has led the team in fantasy points three times this year!  Ty Montgomery has burst onto the fantasy scene with Eddie Lacy being out.  His 162 rushing yards this weekend was the first time a Packers RB gained 100 yards since Lacy back in week 3.  He scored twice against the Chicago Bears and added another TD in week 14 against the Seattle Seahawks.  He totaled 86 yards last week.

Brandin Cooks 5 receptions for 61 yards in week 14 was just enough to rank 34rd at the WR position.  He exploded for 186 yards on seven catches scoring twice in week 15 against the Arizona Cardinals.  Cooks picked a good week to have his best day of the season, outdoing his 1 6/143/2 performance, week 1.

The Atlanta Falcons had to make due without Julio Jones these past two weekends and Taylor Gabriel showed he can be a real weapon in the NFL.  He averaged 23 yards per reception and scored a 64 yard TD, getting behind the Rams secondary.  Crazy thing is, Gabriel has been a top 24 WR over the last 5 weeks.  Hard to imagine why the Cleveland Browns couldn't figure out how to use this guy!

Charles Clay1310124234.4
Kyle Rudolph1812157133.7
Greg Olsen1610172027.2

Charles Clay caught his only two touchdowns in the Bills last two contests. There were just two other weeks Clay gained more than 50 yards in a game this year, back in weeks 5 & 6.

Carson Wentz relied heavily on his TEs these past two weeks, with 41 pass attempts targeting Ertz, Trey Burton and Brent Celek.  Eagles WRs saw just 34 targets.

Which combination of players led your team to the Championship?  Which "stud" ruined your season this past two weeks?
