Saints Sign RB Adrian Peterson

Free agent RB Adrian Peterson and the New Orleans Saints have agreed to a 2 year deal worth $7 mil.  The Minnesota Vikings "replaced" Peterson by signing Latavius Murray early in the offseason.  AP will join Mark Ingram in the Saints backfield.

Peterson has only played in 20 games over the last three years, rushing for 1,632 yards and 11 touchdowns (all in 2015).  He has never really been a pass catcher but will now have Drew Brees as his QB, anything is possible.  The Saints did feature the top run blocking offensive line in the NFL last season, so he at least has that going for him, despite limited snaps.

Signing ahead of the NFL Draft was a wise decision for the veteran, with loads of RB talent in this draft class - Leonard Fournette, Christian McCaffery, Dalvin CookJoe Mixon, Alvin Kamara and more!

Who knows how Sean Payton will split carries/snaps between the two RBs, but Mark Ingram continues to wind up in a crowded backfield, despite coming off a career year.  Ingram rushed for 1,043 yards on 205 carries, scoring six rushing touchdowns.   He also caught 46 passes scoring four touchdowns.
